Like the title says, better than fried poppers! The ranch seasoning in the
cream cheese is the twist. They are a real crowd pleaser. Took them to a BBQ once that was poorly lit, one of the guys replied "These are my favorite!" and downed one in one bite. As he bit into it, the look on his face was quite surprised - he thought they were potato skins. He did confess that after he realized what they were - he couldn't stay out of them.
I haven't seen any green rice recipe like this one. This dish has been traditionally served at all family holidays. I don't know for a fact that this is a Norwegian recipe, but that is what I have been by my family.
We hosted hamburger barbeques on the weekends and never knew how many people were going to show up, so we always bought extra. Many times we were haunted with leftover buns. I came up with this tricky way of using them up.
