I discovered this recipe in a very old magazine that I found in my parent's attic. I've tweaked the recipe some to suit my family's and my own personal taste, and my family just goes crazy over it! This cake is a definite favorite at our house!
*Really be sure to let the cake stand for a full minute after inverting it before you remove the pan or you will mess up the top of the cake.
*the original recipe calls for light brown sugar, but I prefer the rich, caramely taste of the dark brown sugar with the apple and think it's just divine with this cake
