I created this recipe by mixing and matching several lemon poppy seed muffin and cake recipes. I also vegan-ized all the ingredients. Wow! These are sweet, without a ton of added sugar. These are soft and fluffy, without a ton of added fat or any margarine. I was skeptical of the recipe because I’ve had mixed luck when tinkering with recipes, but I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. They were a hit with vegans and non-vegans alike.
This salad is fresh and appealing with several distinct flavors that meld together beautifully. The apple and celery add a nice crunch and there is a mild spicy kick with the addition of curry powder. For guests who enjoy curry, I would definitely entertain with this dish. It is filling, delicious and it presents well. This recipe is adapted from Good Housekeeping light and healthy recipes (2007).
Many classic Waldorf ingredients are seen in this salad, but a few new entries make it bold and interesting. The horseradish in this dish provides a tangy “bite,” but the dried fruit brings it back in balance with a sweet touch.
This dish is light and fluffy and slightly sweet. It’s quick and easy to throw together. Couscous is quite bland and inherits the flavors of what it’s cooked or mixed with so this dish soaks up the flavors of the honey-yogurt-cinnamon combination. This recipe is adapted from the Big Book of Recipes for Babies, Toddlers and Children.
This is an excellent chocolate ice cream. It’s very rich and creamy. The addition of cinnamon and cayenne turn it up a notch. It’s a spicy and exceptionally delicious Mexican treat. This ice cream has heat, and I’ve been told it’s like my Recipe#287655 in ice cream form.
If you’re looking for a chocolate cookie with a real kick, look no further. These cookies are a perfect marriage of chocolate and spicy. They are firm, but chewy-melt-in-your-mouth. For comparison, I lean toward “medium” heat when it comes to salsa. This recipe is adapted from an excellent food blog called Baking Bites.
This is a warm, cheesy and delicious baked macaroni and cheese casserole. It is a little spicy (re: pepper and garlic), but it is easily modified to personal taste. My toddler loves this recipe! He gobbles it down, spices and all. This dish is great with a side of steamed, mixed veggies.
This ice cream produces a delicate melding of flavors. If you are a fan of the honey/lavender combination or just a fan of either, this adventurous ice cream may be for you. I've made this recipe several times as it is becoming a family favorite.
