    Southern Sausage Gravy
    Handle

I love Sausage gravy and biscuits! DH was not a big fan until I made this. True Southern Comfort food! Serve this wonderful Southern-style gravy over hot split and buttered buttermilk biscuits. Biscuits with gravy make a great breakfast with fresh or spiced fruit, Fresh sliced Tomatoes or serve along with a complete breakfast. This recipe is courtesy of Paula Deen.

The Perfect Cup of Tea-British Style
    Handle

I had a rommate for 6 years who was from England. One day he told me jokingly that he loved this country but "we Americans just don't know how to make a proper cup of Tea" He felt it was his duty to teach me how and he was right! This is the only way I will drink my Tea now. It is really more of a method than a recipe. After careful instruction on how to prepare the proper cup of tea I asked him whether loose tea leaves make a better brew than a tea bag. "Loose tea will always taste better," he said, "but, not so much better as to outweigh the convenience of the bag. What's more important is the type of tea that you choose." "In Britain, the standard supermarket tea bag makes a much stronger and more robust brew than your American tea." He said the closest tea bags he ever found over here that approach the quality of their everyday blends are those marketed as English Breakfast. My friend always made his Tea with lowfat milk and sugar. Explaining "Most English drink tea with a little milk, but never with cream or the high-fat milk that Americans put in their coffee. Low-fat milk is a much better choice. "Make sure you use white sugar. Brown sugar might be OK in coffee, but somehow it never tastes right in tea. As for putting honey in tea, if you tried to do that in Britain, you'd be laughed out of the tea shop." Many thanks to Chris for showing me how to make the perfect cup of tea!

    Greek Salad (Horiatiki Salata)
    Handle

On the menu in every Greek restaurant and many non-Greek restaurants as well, this salad has many individual variations, but here are the basics to work from. This is the traditional version that does not include lettuce. This is the way they made it in the Greek restaurant I worked in. They claimed this is the most traditional. All I know is that it is fresh and delicious!

    5-A-Day Bulgur Wheat Salad
    Handle

Found this on a diabetic website while surfing for healthy salads to make ahead and take to work. Since my Mom developed Diabetes I have an interest in finding healthier recipes to put into our diets. You could really add or substitute just about any vegetable you wanted. Bulgur comes from wheat. It is actually the kernel of wheat, cracked for cooking. It has a nutty, chewy flavor, and contains fiber. Olive Oil is a healthy choice for vegetable oil. This recipe is fiber rich and full of Vitamins and Py!

    Grandpa Jimmy's Cacciatore
    Handle

Found this one on the internet so its not my Grandpa's recipe! :) It was listed as one of the top 100's. The author said her grandfather was a chef and owned a restaurant in Long Island during the Depression. This was a dish he created. I have not tried it yet but I was attracted to the fact that is is not loaded with green peppers (yuk) and has all of the Mediteranian flavors I so love (especially the Kalamata olives!) This is a piquant version of an Italian favorite. Tell me what you think.
