This is the ultimate unusual salsa recipe. Very tasty over vanilla ice cream. You can substitute watermelon for dragonfruit if you can't find dragonfruit at your local grocer. I did not put the chopped jalepeno in because I don't do hot, but I think next time I will. This recipe was developed by the Groovy GastroGnomes for ZWT5.

This is not real catupiri that can only be found in Brazil, but it bears a strong resemblance to the real thing so multiple websites inform me. I don't know how long this takes to cook, so I just guessed. The first website I saw with this recipe is this one: http://www.fogazzo.com/Ovens/Pizza_Recipes/Catupiry_Recipe/catupiry_recipe.html

    Recipe #374428

"a lightly spiced, creamy soup with a zingy salsa garnish" I found this recipe in a soup cookbook that I bought at a garage sale for $1. I used a green serrano pepper instead of a red chili pepper and when my immersion blender did not blend it smooth enough for me I put the soup with the milk already added into my vitamix. Also, the original recipe calls for 1 tsp cumin seeds, 0.5 tsp mustard seeds and the sesame seeds to be roasted in a frying pan for 2-3 minutes and then ground. They would then be added when the ginger and garlic are added

I found this delectable recipe in the Better Homes and Garden's recipes. I like it best with arugula (aka rocket), but you can substitute spinach. Also, the real recipe calls for corn on the cob, cook it, then cut the corn off in "planks" on top of the rest of the salad. For a bit of spice, you can add a sliced jalepeno. I usually double this recipe and use chopped roma tomatoes 'cause cherry tomatoes are so expensive. Cook time is for the rice. Use brown rice. Really. I mean it. I think, from what I have read, that the rice and corn together constitute a complete protein, so this is a nice vegan meal.

Another gem from Better Homes and Gardens. I make this without the beef for a vegetarian meal. I also like to use brown rice and add 1/3 cup barley. It will take much longer to cook with brown rice and barley.

    Recipe #424748

I wanted something bread-y for lunch, something my 15 month old son could (and would) eat, and I have quite a lot of fresh basil in my garden. I used vegetable oil, but I think I might try olive oil next time. Try adding ham or cheese. For those trying to use less fat, substitute no-sugar-added apple sauce for the oil and decrease the sugar by half.
