    Brothy, spicy soup with big chunks of chicken breasts. Recipe modified from a low-carb recipe to omit or substitute hard-to-find ingredients (at least hard to find at my grocery store). I ate it along with a green salad. If you're not low-carbing, you can add corn, beans or serve with tortilla chips.

    From Cooking with Paula Deen Magazine, March/April 2011. This is how the magazine described the dish: This casserole has all the flavors of Chicken Cordon Bleu--chicken, ham, and cheese--without all that messy rolling and stuffing! We liked the dish, though it wasn't as creamy as we expected. I followed the recipe as written (copied original recipe below) but added a handful of shredded cheddar cheese to the top of the casserole when it was done and baked for another couple of minutes until the cheese was melted. I also used more ham than the recipe called for because I needed to use up the leftovers. Cook time in my over was about 1 hour for the rice to be tender (recipe calls for 45 minutes).

    From the LEARN TO LOVE IT section of the Food Network Magazine. They wrote, "If you think you can't stand Brussels sprouts, give this cheesy dish a try." Well, I like Brussels sprouts, but thought I'd give it a try anyway. Rich, creamy dish. I made exactly as the original recipe called for (which I have copied here), but in the future I wouldn't use quite so many breadcrumbs (the breading on top seemed a little thick and heavy). But delicious and pretty easy to make! (Recipe copied from FOOD NETWORK MAGAZINE, November 2010 Issue, Pg. 68)

    From Recipes for Food Allergies by Marilyn Gioannini. Any seed or nut that can be made into milk can be used to make a milk shake. Brazil nuts are used here as an example. Frozen bananas are an important ingredient - they serve the same purpose as ice cream in dairy milk shakes. Bananas should be frozen when fully rips. Peel them and place in a plastic bag. They will keep in the freezer without turning dark for up to a week.
