    This is based on a recipe from B H & G "Cajun Cookng" with a few changes. Like chili, this can be made a day or so ahead of time, but DO NOT add the corn starch mixture & shrimp until ready to serve.

    If there's anything that I'm fussy about eating, it's pancakes!!! The biggest mistake people make when making pancake batter is want the batter as lumpy as possible! Any old time cook will testify to THAT!!! I used to be night manager at a small town Mom & Pop cafe in the early 70's. The owner was a cranky old Norwegian that taught me many things about cafe cooking & this pancake recipe was one of them! The cafe has since been long gone & so is Andy & I miss both of them dearly! I've made these for so many years, I just throw it together, so I hope I got everything "write"! LOL!!! EVERYONE that's had these pancakes, especially our nine Grandkids, LOVE 'em!!! This makes a huge batch, but you can cut it in half if need be.

    This should be the "State Burger of Wisconsin"!!! I had one of these at a roadside family restaurant/bar & grill in northern WI, a couple years ago.It was GREAT!!! I've tried to replicate it & I think I'm pretty close. If you can't find bratwurst patties, remove the casing off of an uncooked bratwurst link & make a pattie out of it.(This is for just one burger)

    Being a GB Packers fan, I just HAD to make my pea soup like this!!! Remember that nice meaty ham bone you have leftover from Christmas...or perhaps the one in the freezer from Easter??? Use it in this recipe. you could also add a couple chopped tomatoes. Like any soup or chili, this is best when made a day or 2 ahead of time & reheated to really enjoy the flavors!

    I wanted some beef ribs, but it was too cold to fire up the smoker/grill, so I threw this together. It takes several hours to cook, but it's well worth it! Start this the night before for best flavor. You could make this on a smoker/grill, too. {Follow mfg.'s directions) I would suggest using Oak Chips, if smoking them. Serve wiith my Recipe #311907

    Doctored-up "canned beans" are OK if you're in a hurry...I've done it more than once, but for REAL Baked Beans, give these a try! The aroma of them baking in the oven is heavenly!!! A stoneware bean pot is preferred, but you can use a small covered roaster or casserole if need be. My Dad always used lean salt pork, but I prefer to use a good smoked bacon.

    I'm a ex-OTR truck driver. I got this recipe from a ROAD KING Magazine Cookbook, YEARS ago...(more years than I care to think about). I've never tried it...WHY, I have NO idea, cuz it sure looks GOOD!!! Putting it on the Zaar for safe keeping!

    I've loved Bread Pudding since I was a little boy! I don't believe there's such a thing as BAD Bread Pudding, but I DO believe this is perhaps the BEST I've ever had...hope it's yours, too! This is VERY rich & is best served warm w/ warm sauce. I suppose you could substitute vanilla or almond extract for the whiskey, but I've never done it.

    Most people don't like liver because they've never had it prepared properly. The secret to making GOOD liver is to cook it over a medium high heat & to NOT overcook it! I prefer using Veal Liver, but Calf's liver works just as well...avoid regular beef liver due to it's bitterness.

    I got this recipe from a 1980 regional cookbook put out by a nursing home that my wife's Grandma was in. I remember Grandma & the other residents putting in thier favorite recipes...Grandma was an excellent cook! I Quote from the original contributor: "The meal will hold quite a long time in low oven after baking. This chicken is always moist & tender with a very special flavor.:

    REAL brewed coffee is almost a thing of the past. My Dad used to make this regularly. He was a hired farm hand in the 1930's & 40's, until he met my Mother. He learned how to make "Egg Coffee" from one of the lady's he worked for & he then passed it down to me. The egg takes away any bitterness. Use an old 12 cup porcelian coffee pot...remove the stem & basket, if they're there. If you don't have one, you can pick one up at a flea market for just a few dollars. It's a little tricky at first, but once you get the hang of how to brew it, you might not go back to your drip-coffeemaker!

    This was started by my mom and was a main holiday staple in our household for MANY YEARS, but it is SO good, we have it quite often! People raise an eyebrow when we tell them about it, but after they taste it, they're HOOKED!!! You can adjust the amount to your needs. Just ENJOY!!!
