In the early 1970's, I was head cook at a popular local supper club. This is how we made our beer batter.

I was searching for a different recipe in our old, neglected recipe box & came across this. NO idea where it came from, but it does sound "interesting". Haven't made it, but just might SOON!

I got this several years ago from the Jack Daniel's® website. It's so simple & yet SO GOOD!!!

    Recipe #399246

I'm a HUGE Triple D (Diner's, Drive-In's & Dive's) fan!!! After seeing several episodes with places that serve lamb shanks (& my mouth watering), I decided to try my hand at it. I looked at several recipes on the Zaar, but I DO NOT like cooking with wine. IMO wine ruins the taste of most food instead of enhancing it, but to each his own. I came up with this & it turned out pretty tasty...hope you like it, too!!! I used a heavy covered cast iron dutch oven, but you can use whatever you have.

Serve this easily made Salmon Loaf with a warm Bearnaise or Hollandaise Sauce....mmmmmmmm!!!

    Recipe #395634

This is another great comfort food!!! It's inexpensive, very easy to make & tastes GREAT!!!

It's Apple Season, here in Wisconsin! This recipe came from my wife's Grandma & is VERY GOOD...especially when served warm along with a good cup of coffee!

Doctored-up "canned beans" are OK if you're in a hurry...I've done it more than once, but for REAL Baked Beans, give these a try! The aroma of them baking in the oven is heavenly!!! A stoneware bean pot is preferred, but you can use a small covered roaster or casserole if need be. My Dad always used lean salt pork, but I prefer to use a good smoked bacon.

This is my wife's recipe. I'm not a big bean eater, but this is SOOOOO good!!! IDK where she got it, but I'm putting on the Zaar for safe keeping!

    Recipe #392783

Furnace baking became popular during the Depression as a way of saving the cost of cooking fuel. It was very useful for cooking meats, casseroles & baked beans which needed longer cooking times. The directions would read: "Place on a ledge just inside the furnace door with an average furnace fire." From: COUNTRY magazine

    Recipe #390653

These are really good cooked on a cast iron griddle, greased with a dab of bacon grease over an open fire or camp-cookstove! You can also make them at home on your favorite griddle. Taste wonderful when served with real maple syrup or homemade blueberry sauce, along with some thick sliced bacon or breakfast sausage!

    Recipe #390593

If you enjoy things like this, then these are for YOU!!! The ones you get at the store or tavern are absolutely horrid! These are by far the BEST I've ever had!!! I had to go through a lot to get this recipe, but it was worth it! The directions may be a bit sketchy, but if you know how to do stuff like this, then it's a walk-in-the-park!

    Recipe #388440

What smells and tastes more refreshing in the summer, than sliced cucumbers? YUMMY!

    Recipe #384828

My wife got this from a lady that she works with. She says it's really good! Putting it on the Zaar for safe keeping.....& future reference!

I'm a ex-OTR truck driver. I got this recipe from a ROAD KING Magazine Cookbook, YEARS ago...(more years than I care to think about). I've never tried it...WHY, I have NO idea, cuz it sure looks GOOD!!! Putting it on the Zaar for safe keeping!

A good friend of mine found this in a grocery store ad in his local newspaper & sent it to me. Haven't tried it yet, but it sure sounds good!!! Putting it here for safe keeping! (I think the sauce would be good on beef or chicken, too!)

My wife cut this from a local newspaper. We love just about anything "Cranberry" & this looked pretty interesting! Haven't tried it, yet, but will soon! Putting it on the Zaar for safe keeping.......& to share, too!

    Recipe #373558

I've loved Bread Pudding since I was a little boy! I don't believe there's such a thing as BAD Bread Pudding, but I DO believe this is perhaps the BEST I've ever had...hope it's yours, too! This is VERY rich & is best served warm w/ warm sauce. I suppose you could substitute vanilla or almond extract for the whiskey, but I've never done it.

    Recipe #371861

This is probably the BEST Hot Beefs EVER!!! I got this recipe several years ago, from my wife's best friend, who has since passed away, due to breast cancer. She was an EXCELLANT cook & this recipe is named in her honor. I usually start this the night before on a Friday or Saturday night & the house smells SOOOOOOOOOOOO good in the morning!!!

    Recipe #368917

We first had this at my cousin's house, in Denver & we just LOVED IT!!! Very easy to make & SOOOOOOO refreshing on a hot, lazy Summer day! The ingredient amounts are approximate. We love mayo, but prefer salad dressing with this. GREAT for leftover chicken, too!
