    I have very fond memories of my mom's banana bread, warm out of the oven. (Or, burning my mouth on it, hot out of the oven because the smell was so hard to resist!) I really like the extra flavor the wheat germ adds. This is nice and moist and has a wonderful banana flavor!

    I haven't tried this, but I like the sound of it! I got it from the Simple Living message boards, but the poster said they just got it from somewhere on the internet. By the way- the rice, oats, groats, or whatever should be raw.

    Really interesting sounding chili recipe from Claudia from the Simple Living message boards. She says that 1 cup = 3.5 WW points. Claudia says "* 'So Soya' ground beef comes in a box (in the the produce section of Loblaws where I am in Canada) and is a dry soy product that will absorb the moisture and flavor in a recipe and expand. You could leave this out - it wasn't in the original recipe, but I love to add it." Let me know how it turns out!

    I found this recipe at VegKitchen.com. I like that it gives you the option of using your choice of 3 different types of healthful flours: kamut, whole wheat or spelt. It's also quite low-fat if you use low-fat milk & yogurt or go with the vegan option of applesauce & soymilk.

    Whoo-hoo!! Another healthier cookie recipe! ;) It's easy to make these vegan- just use vegan chocolate chips and you're there! Personally I would use all whole wheat pastry flour and sucanat instead of sugar. This recipe came to me from Taste For Life magazine.

    Credit for this recipe goes to "Jane" from the SimpleLiving discussion forums. I'm all for healthy cookie recipes, so I thought I would post it here. With wheat germ, whole wheat flour, oats, raisins and peanut butter, these are "stick to your ribs"-type cookies! I have posted the recipe as she directed, making large cookies, but feel free to make smaller ones... just be aware that you may need to adjust the cooking time! No one wants *burnt* healthy cookies!

    Kamut is an ancient strain of wheat that some find more easily digestable than typical wheat. It has a higher protein and potassium content than "regular" flour and contains a different type of gluten than that in "regular" flour. It has a nutty, kind of buttery taste and a chewy texture, making it a great choice for pizza dough! This is just a basic recipe- obviously you can top with whatever you'd like.
