Prepare this ahead of time, then when your guests arrive, pop the pan in the oven and spend time with your guests! Also works great with almost any kind of pasta: layered like lasagna, stuffed in manicotti or big seashells, mixed willy-nilly with linguine or elbow macaroni. So many choices! Double the recipe, make two pans, freeze one and cook the other right away.

You will LOVE this tangy (but slightly sweet) one-big-bowl salad. Great as a potluck or picnic carry-along, too.

A few years ago in an on-line fabric swap, one of the gals from Germany shared with me that THIS is the kind of potato salad served in the Bavarian part of Germany today. Quite different from what we Americans call "German" potato salad. As my dad would say: puts hair on your chest!

Handed down to my mom, then to me, and I've handed it down to my kids already too. A GREAT potluck dish, kept warm in a crockpot, usually NO leftovers (boo hoo!).

Not your regular mayonnaise dressing, this has a bit of a kick to it! Excellent with steak, and a NICE change from the usual "baked potato" offerings!

First time I had this at a church potluck, another lady and I were nearly fighting over the last serving--it was SO good! So we took the empty bowl and went looking for the owner to BEG for the recipe. Here it is!

Clipped this one from BH&G years ago, finally got around to making it recently, and the whole family decided it was a keeper! Zesty and sweet at the same time, with interesting additions.

Green beans never had it so good! If this doesn't convert your hard-core bean-hater into a bean-lover, I don't know what will! We rarely have leftovers of this recipe, and when we do, they're GREAT the second time around. NOTE: You can substitute canned beans for fresh, just skip the directions for cooking the beans.

Between the microwave and the blender, this comes together in about two minutes flat. The hardest part is unwrapping the stick of butter! Or maybe separating the eggs? Excellent over asparagus, eggs, broccoli or other fresh veggies. I've even used it with pasta!

Never mind buying those little EXPENSIVE packets of taco seasonings ever again. You have all the herbs on your shelf (I hope!) to make PERFECTLY seasoned taco meat every time!

Truly, I add rabbit or chicken meat to my rarebit, to serve as a hearty (and savory) main dish, thus making my rarebit a TRUE rabbit!!! Plus my kids don't have to grow up being confused about the name: rarebit or rabbit.

This travels beautifully on family car trips, to picnics and for tailgate parties. Meat amounts are "suggestions" so use whatever meats strike your fancy! We like to add a quick smear of mayo to the bread with the olive oil too.

Swim team and 4-H club fund-raisers wouldn't be the same without THESE bars on hand. Cut them B-I-G and let the kids enjoy themselves!

Another great treat to have along on a l-o-n-g car trip between Wisconsin and Montana. We make this one and Recipe #216744. One gets packed away to be used on the return trip, the other is used right away. Also great for after-school snacks, skiing or hiking excursions, and for "party mix."

This is what we call gorp at our house, and it goes on every cross-country trip we make between Wisconsin and Montana. The following ingredients are merely "suggestions" for what can be added.

Loved by children and parents everywhere, a favorite of Elvis, too, I think! Consider adding jam to really jazz it up. Move over Julia Child--coming through!!!

My hubby LOVES bleu cheese, so as soon as I saw this in a little booklet about the Midwest, I knew he'd enjoy steak prepared like this! The original recipe called for 1/2 C. A1 Steak sauce for marinating, but since I didn't have any, I made up my own marinade. I offer here the excellent results.

A wondrous little creation that goes together easily, smells terrific while it's cooking, and fills the mouth with delicious flavors! Excellent for taking to potlucks (different from the "ordinary" stuff you often see!). I make this whenever my mom comes to visit--to her it is such a special treat!

Don't wait for the holidays to try this one! Tart & sweet at the same time, looks beautiful on the table. The oven works while you go play! Original recipe came from "Hobby Farms" magazine.

Toss a few things in the blender, out comes a great chilled drink with a LOVELY color and GREAT taste! This is thinner than most smoothies. Frozen fruit means you can skip the ice cubes!
