This has been a tradition ever since my son started kindergarten. The first day of school is always exciting and filled with stories to tell. Serving fondue for supper prolongs the meal and lets everyone get their stories told as we slowly cook and enjoy our family time together. Best of all, the prep can be done the night before and so supper can be ready to serve as soon as you are ready. Any extra wieners can be dipped, cooked, cooled, and frozen for school lunches.
This is one of my favourite "what are we going to have for supper?" meals. I keep recipe#31008 in the freezer which makes prep time even easier. I use whatever I have in the house for add-ons and each person in the family builds their own salad. You can add 1/2 cup sour cream to the dressing for a more creamy version.
Submitted for RSC#9. Original instructions forgot to include the five spice powder with the other ingredients in the blender. I also forgot to include that I always use low sodium soy sauce. These changes have been updated. You can also use any chicken pieces you desire including breasts, thighs, wings, etc. For more pronounced flavour, marinade the chicken overnight in a ziploc bag
and then proceed with step 3. This recipe
can also be made in a crockpot.
