    Granola with vanilla yogurt has become a breakfast favourite around here. This version is maybe a bit too sweet for everyday, but it makes a very special treat!

    While I'm off on maternity leave, I've been missing the spinach salad that I order when I go out to the local pub for lunch with my work friends. I couldn't think of a good reason not to make it for myself at home, though, since it's a simple and delicious meal or side dish. Add some sliced grilled chicken if you like. I entered quantities for one serving, but it's easy to upsize. Making your own bacon bits and dressing is great, but it's also delicious with storebought! (Cooking time is the time to hard boil the egg!)

    My mother-in-law's stuffing recipe. An interesting variation from how my mother makes hers. This should be put together the day before you plan on cooking your turkey. This makes enough stuffing for a pretty large turkey - I used about 2/3 of the recipe to stuff my 5 kg (11 lb) bird.

    From chef Michael Smith (via, a very basic truffle recipe that can be customized in a zillion ways. I find truffles are really quite simple to make, but pretty time consuming. Most definitely worth it for special occasions! Plain truffles are delicious, but try adding peppermint or liqueur flavourings (such as Kahlua or Grand Mamier) to yours. Then, coat them in chocolate and decorate them with your favourite topping. The combinations and variations are endless, and entirely up to you! Cook time does NOT include time to chill. Truffles can be stored in a covered container in the fridge for a couple of weeks. I've had no problems freezing them, either!

    Another favourite by my father-in-law. I spent an afternoon with him learning to make this, but I'm still not certain I can duplicate it! It is a simple dish that reheats nicely, but also time consuming to prepare. It's well worth the effort, though! Omit the ground beef, if you prefer.

    Here's a relatively quick and easy Eggs Benny recipe from scratch (no packaged Hollandaise sauce!) that Regis learned from "Live with Regis and Kelly" guest Eric Ripert. What always turned me off making these in the past was how involved the instructions seemed... after all, it can be difficult to follow all those complex directions first thing in the morning!
