    Pork Stew
    Handle

Wanted to make something a little different than the usual beef stew for dinner tonight. I'm serving with steamed rice (because the kids like it). I want to try with polenta though.

    Fairy Cakes

These little mini cupcakes are a favorite of my twins, it makes a small batch and you can flavor them any way you want. I like using the extracts at a local baking supply store that I found but vanilla and citrus zest work equally well. The icing recipe provided is good but buttercream frosting works great too.

    Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip
    Handle
    1 Reviews |  By Marney

I made MustangMom's Delicious Zucchini Casserole the other night for dinner and LOVED it, especially the sauce that goes on the zucchini. I was thinking how it would make a wonderful base for a hot artichoke and spinach dip. Here is the dip with my alterations. Oh, and if you haven't tried her casserole, it's a must!

This was my grandmother's recipe. It's a walnut filled yeast bread that we used to have every year for Christmas. I inherited her recipe box but this was missing. At a recent family gathering my Aunt said she had a copy of the recipe and mailed it to me. I'm putting it here for safekeeping. I love this and am so glad it won't get lost through the years like so many family recipes can be. NOTE: I know that the directions call for egg that is not listed in the ingredients. I'm trying the recipe with one egg to start with and will update with the results from that run-through. UPDATE: The one egg worked fine, I can't imagine that adding more would make it any better so I'm changing the ingredient list to reflect the one egg. :)

    Chicken Tortilla Soup

My little brother was quite a picky eater when he was growing up and gave my mom trouble on most meals. I started making this in high school and my mom and I were both suprised when he ended up having 4 bowls in one sitting. We actually ended up having to supplement dinner that night with leftovers because he ate most of the pot. I know this looks like a lot of ingredients, but it does go together rather easily.

These are like steak fries taken to the next level. Contrary to their name they don't have any ranch dressing in them.

Miriam's Salad With Poppy Seed Dressing
    Handle

This salad is light and tangy. It has a great mix of textures. Last time I made this I didn't have walnuts so I used pinenuts instead, they were great and my husband said he liked it even better.

    Microwave Fudge
    Handle
    6 Reviews |  By Marney

Not only is this the easiest fudge to make, it's also the best tasting...well, at least in my opinion. The problem with a lot of fudge recipes is the need for cooking on the stove and a candy thermometer. This is so easy you can have the kids help you make it. UPDATE: I reduced the amount of salt listed due to reviewer feed back and listed it as optional.

    Marinated Flank Steak

Flank steak is one of my favorite cuts of beef. It takes on the flavor of marinates well and has a great texture. I like to serve this with steamed rice and sugar snap peas. Times do not inclued the stay in the refrigerator.

Hungarian beef stew, comforting and warming. All my husbands friend flock around in the fall when I make this. I prefer to omit the potatoes and serve over noodles.

This is my grandma's recipe for cabbage rolls. I like them because they're super easy to make (a lot of cabbage roll recipes are labor intensive).

This is such a great dish you will end up adding it to your regular line up. My husband likes to have this with tortillas to make sure he gets all the sauce. I haven't tried it yet but my husband wants me to try making it with cubed pork loin.

    Chocolate Chip Cookies

    7 Reviews |  By Marney

The secret to the best tasting chocolate chip cookies is to use only brown sugar. It makes them chewier and stay more "fresh baked" tasting. Try them for yourself, you won't go back to ordinary cookies ever again!
