From a French cookbook, the original name is "Poulet Vallee d'Auge". This dish has conquered even my most traditional friends who were horrified at the sight of an apple on the same plate with a piece of chicken! (Calvados is a liquor distilled from apples).
Just found it on a little book called "Baking" and started drooling...I will sure try it sooner or later (perhaps later, due to a little problem with my cholesterol...) Not the healthiest and lowest-fat recipe, but once in a while I suppose it wouldn't kill anyone!
I came up with this yummy yet not too mild cocktail one evening while playing around with bottles waiting for my friends to arrive...I think it's great, but many people might find it slightly too rich and sweet...definitely give it a try if you like creamy liqueurs
I put this salad toghether to use up fruit leftovers, my mum and I really enjoyed it as a light supper, hope you'll like it too! It's fast, easy and fresh, practically no fat and low in calories yet very tasty!
I made this for a friend's birthday party, I didn't have enough time to leave the filling in the refrigerator, and when I rolled up it all came out...even though I tried to fix it I must say it didn't look exactly appealing, but it was soooooooo god that noone even noticed!
Wonderful for those long summer evenings, when it's too hot to go to bed...it will keep the conversation going forever (or at least until the bottle is empty...!)Keep this in the freezer (it won't freeze because of the alcohol in it, but it will become even creamier and more refreshing) and take it out about ten minutes before serving (Prep time includes overnight soaking)
I usually make these as mini-muffins and put them on the buffet table, or use them as appetizers, split and filled with cream cheese and smoked salmon. My friend Linda is their biggest fan, so I thought I would give them her name!
A slightly modified recipe from 'More muffin magic', a lovely little book that a friend of mine brought me a few years ago from Australia; I made them this morning for my mom, who's in bed for a bad flu, and though she hasn't eaten much these days, she had three of these in a row...
This is a classic summer recipe in my family, cooked in alternative to old boring rice salad, can be made a complete though light meal by adding 2-3 cups cooked prawns. Complete with iced tea, savoury muffins and fresh fruit, delicious!
