Growing up in Scotland certain things were staples in our diet. We ate a lot of root veggies because my aunt and uncle ran a farm. Herbs and spices also were not all that common when I was little. This is a very easy soup to make with the vegetables that grow very easily on the east coast of Scotland but are easily found in many grocery stores. We would eat it almost every weekend. The turnips and onion especially give it a phenomenal taste, precluding the use of stock.

This side dish is really easy to make and very tasty. The combination of tastes is really great. This side dish is especially good with mashed potatoes and some kind of meatloaf (veggie preferably :) ).

This is DELICIOUS! It's very good for breakfast. The frozen berries can be found at your local supermarket.

This really simple potato soup is so tasty. I cam up with it when trying to use the surplus of veggies from my garden. I didn't see a similar recipe on this site so I decided to post this one.

This tasty mushroom and red wine based gravy is better (in my opinion) than the gloopy meat-based versions. You can change the herbs you add based on your taste preferences. I like to make it extra peppery.

My husband's family is Ukrainian/Polish and every Christmas we had the pleasure of eating cabbage rolls which I love. I created this simple recipe which mimics the original pretty good. It's simple, has few ingredients and tastes great. I actually like these better than the complicated recipes with lots of ingredients.

    Recipe #275291

This spicy, yet fruity salsa, makes a great change to the regular tomato-based varieties. You can serve it as a side with just about anything, eat it with tortilla chips or add it to your favorite burrito.

I went to a wedding this past summer and had a delicious spinach salad. I was able to reproduce it quite well and am sharing it here. It's absolutely delicious on a hot summer day and the sugar encrusted walnuts make it extra tasty.

    Recipe #275190

I LOVE soup and this soup is easily a meal in of itself. It's also a testament to the fact that meat does not need to be added to everything to make it taste great. The beauty of this recipe is its simplicity and it tastes delicious. It is great with some fresh white bread for dipping.

These chewy fried Chinese flatbreads are delicious! They are common at fairs and festivals in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where I lived for 5 years. They are commonly served with fiery hot Chinese chili garlic sauce that you can find at most grocery stores. If you're not into spicy food, you can serve this with plum sauce or sweet and sour dipping sauce instead. Although, these are lengthy instructions, the green onion cakes are pretty easy to make and well worth the effort. If you don't want to cook them all at once, you can freeze the uncooked cakes, then thaw and fry them as needed. If you freeze them, separate each cake with a small piece of wax paper.

This is an awesome black bean chili that I modified from the "Red Hot Gourmet". By adding a little more stock you can make it into a hearty soup instead. You may also substitute canned beans or use more jalapeño peppers for a hotter chili. While it can be ready in less than 3 hours, the longer it cooks, the better it gets.

    Recipe #274697

There is a smoothie bar near where I work and they sell this delicious smoothie called a "sama jama". Well I took a look at what was in it, threw it all in a blender, and voila it was almost identical. This is absolutely delicious and super healthy.
