Sweet tender snap peas with a subtle orange sauce and cashews. Easy for every night dinner or nice enough for company. This is from the cookbook called the "The One-Armed Cook"- a cookbook geared to new moms. I am not a new mom, but I love the simplicity yet slightly gourmet touch of this book.

When you are in the mood for something a little different when it comes to your popcorn!

    Recipe #280706

Okay we usually use Emeril's Bam seasoning on our popcorn, but when we feel like we are in the mood for more of a kick, this is the recipe we use. From Cook's Illustrated.

We love popcorn at our house and not the stuff that comes in a microwavable bag. We use a hot air popcorn popper and then have fun with our flavors. This recipe is soo good, especially if you are a garlic lover. I crave this, I do! Sometimes I will throw in some freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Mmmm. From Cooks Illustrated.

Anyone who has been to a Cafe Rio in Utah loves their sweet pork. Here is a copycat version that is hard to beat. They serve this sweet pork in tacos, salads, burritos etc. Pass a little of the tomatillo dressing (#212675) with it and...mmmmm...I appreciate my sister for sharing this recipe with me.

    Recipe #278696

This recipe comes from Cook's Illustrated "The Best Make-Ahead Recipe" Book. This was absolutely the best mashed potatoes I have ever made and the family all agreed. Rich and silky, easy, easy! Anyone who has used a Cook's Illustrated recipe knows that they go into great detail on how they come up with a recipe. There is no room here for their explanation of their cooking methods, but just trust me, this is a must have recipe. Purchasing this cookbook has been so worth it, everything I have tried so far is great!

I have just discovered a cookbook called "The I Love to Cook Book" by Lauren Groveman. The recipes I have tried are incredible so far. This is her recipe for white bread. It is so good! The family wants me to make it all the time now (we will see.) My daughter said that bread tasted like a croissant on the inside. We were all in heaven! I made it again yesterday. It is a bit time consuming, but it is due to having 3 rises, but the author gives a great tip for making it ahead of time. It's an easy dough to work with and she gives a great method for shaping the loaves. I have changed the recipe directions a bit to meet my needs and it works well! I have a regular kitchen aid mixer and I put as much flour as I can in it (about 8 cups) and then add the rest right into dough on the floured surface. It makes 3 large loaves. Use a electric carving knife for nice straight slices of bread. *For some reason the website won't take the correct the time for prep and cooking. It takes about 5 hours of prep (most of that rising) and 30-35 baking.

Easy, good comfort food. I used Rotel tomatoes and came out with a nice and spicy soup that the family loved! From the cookbook "Kitchen Life" by Art Smith.

This is a great from scratch Tuna Casserole. No canned soup here, an easy Parmesan cream sauce with just a touch of cayenne to give it a nice kick. Red bell peppers, green onions and mushrooms give it the right flavor and colors to pull an ordinary tuna casserole to over the top. This recipe comes from Art Smith's cookbook "Kitchen Life" which I am enjoying very much! When I make this again, I will probably substitute Ritz cracker crumbs for the dried bread crumbs to add a little more pizzaz to the top.

Sausage links cooked in hot pepper jelly. Makes a great side for breakfast or brunch or even an appetizer. From Southern Living Magazine

This is a tasty stir fry recipe that my family really enjoyed. They loved the bit of sweetness that the honey brings out in this dish. When I make this again, I will add more veggies than the recipe calls for, I think it lacked in the veggie department, but other than that, it was really good. Time includes marinating.

From Cooks Illustrated "The Best Make Ahead Recipe". The idea being that you don't end up with macaroni salad that dries out. We liked this recipe, it was very creamy and a bit tangy- good! My new favorite. I will probably try some lower fat ingredients next time to lighten it up a bit.

Crunchy, sweet and nicely seasoned chicken salad that is real good! My neighbor and friend shared this wonderful chicken salad recipe with me. I double this recipe for my family.

Whats great about a cream biscuit is that there is none of that cutting in of butter or shortening, just pour in the cream and stir. Easy! From Cooks Illustrated Make-Ahead Recipe Cookbook. The only thing that bugged me with the recipe is that it calls for 4 1/2 cups of cream, most large cream containers at the store are 32 oz. or 4 cups, I wasn't about to buy another thing of cream, so I just used 1/2 cup of the milk out of my frig to make up the difference. It was just fine to me.

This recipe is originally from Zingerman's in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It has an extra fudgy flavor and gooey texture.

Asian flavored barbecued chicken. Serve with rice and macaroni salad and you have a great Polynesian meal! My friend Gladys shared this recipe with me. This recipe makes a lot of marinade, I was able to do 5 lbs. of chicken thighs and felt like I still had a lot of marinade leftover. I would probably halve the recipe next time for 2 to 3 lbs of chicken.

A different kind of chicken and rice casserole! It was very good. It does take some time to make, but it can be made and frozen ahead of time. The only concern I had with this recipe is that the rice-to-liquid ratio seemed off, and it made the rice really creamy, which tasted fine, but just know that you will have really creamy rice, insead of the regular singular grain rice taste. This is from The Best Make Ahead Recipe Cookbook from Cooks Illustrated.
