Very easy, quick, and delicious snack mix.

    Recipe #246610

I saw him make this on FoodNetwork and it looked delicious. Turns out it was! Very easy to put together with ingredients I always have on hand (love those Bloody Mary's!), and perfect for when you have guests as the only thing you'll have left to do is grill the steak. (NOTE: The original recipe says it'll serve 4-8, but 3-4 would seem maximum to me for an entree; 2 for hearty eaters.)

    Recipe #239825

A friend brought this salad for my family when my daughter was sick. I added the blue cheese and chives because they sounded good. It's now my favorite salad and just in time for spring spinach leaves.

    Recipe #117074

I saw this recipe prepared on a PBS show (I'll include it when I can remember the name!!) and made it, changing only a couple of details to suit my guests' tastes. The original called for 1/4 tsp. of roughly crushed black peppercorns added to the sauce and to use Stilton cheese. I'm going to try it for myself again using the recipe as originally written, but I can't imagine it will be too much better than this was.

    Recipe #113196

This recipe comes from "Best of the Best From the Great Plains Cookbook". I'm publishing it in honor of one of Zaar's members who, sadly, has a disability making her incapable of appreciating venison. How this occurred is open to debate, as she was originally a Minnesota girl and should not be suffering so. The opinion among some is that it is a side effect of a unique, spiritual, liquid fast that she assiduously practices. It is my hope that this recipe will cure her affliction. (The long preparation and cooking times are for marinating and smoking the ham. Despite the joking description, this really is pretty good.)

    Recipe #112533

I found the original recipe on the internet a few years back and made it for my friend, Sue, at our annual Christmas day brunch. Since then I've played with it a bit, and have developed both a hot and cold version. Good either way. Using made from scratch hot cocoa is the key to a tasty result. The majority of the prep time is for making the hot cocoa. Once done, the drink goes together in seconds.

I've made these for years, but it never occurred to me to post it until a request for tortilla pinwheels was posted. These are always a hit and are also fairly healthy! Cook time is refrigeration time.

Posted in response to a request. From my grandmother's recipe files. It's rich and delicious.

When the Applebee's here first opened years ago, they had this on their menu. I would order this on almost every visit. When they took it off their menu, I developed my own recipe for it, and I think it's even better. It's a very quick and easy to prepare appetizer or supper sandwich.

I've made this recipe for 20 years and often serve it on holidays. It's got a fresh, clean taste that goes well with other, heavier foods. Plus, it's very attractive on the table. Make the dressing with the lesser amount of curry and taste before adding more. (Cooking time is chill time.)

I don't know who Lucille B was (probably one of my mom's bridge cronies), but her salad is very good. I often make the cranberry version on Thanksgiving.

    Recipe #104166

I'm posting this in response to a request. It's one variation of a delicious Polish pastry that can be topped with a variety of toppings.

    Recipe #103585

This is a dish that I ate a lot as a child, but haven't made it in years. Don't know why, because it's delicious. I'm posting it in response to a request.

My dad made this bread for years and gave loaves to everyone he knew. Once they tried it, they'd drop not-so-subtle hints begging for more. I've adapted it to a 100% whole grain recipe, but otherwise it's all his. Slightly sweet, dense, and delicious. Do not omit the wheat gluten or otherwise you'll be waiting all day for it to rise (as did my dad). Also, toasting the caraway seeds really brings out their flavor, but it isn't critical.

This is a recipe I got years ago from an old friend. I rediscovered it while cleaning out an old recipe box. It's a delicious appetizer or addition to a relish platter. Also very easy. Cooking time is refrigeration time.

I got the original recipe from a cookbook titled "When Friends Cook" by the Friends of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. I've made several changes to suit my taste and dietary wants, so this is my version. Be sure not to skip the overnight part, as it really adds to the flavor of this dish. For this reason it's also a great company entree. I love it because it's low carb, but full of flavor.

This was one of those serendipitous creations I came up with to take to a last minute gathering. It was made with the ingredients I had in the fridge, yet turned out to be a hit. My family loves it, too.

This is a combo I came up with to please the very different tastes in my family. This is one combination of ingredients that everyone will eat.

This was my mom's favorite thing to make and eat for herself. I didn't appreciate it as a kid, but have to admit that I've learned to love it, too. Perfect with fresh from the garden baby spinach.

This is being posted in response to a request for a Swiss Steak that doesn't contain tomato. This was my mom's recipe and is still my favorite. Lots of gravy, no tomato.
