This tastes like the thick, crumbly, bacony cornbread my great-grandma used to make. It does not taste like that yellow-cake cornbread that's so popular now. It's a good match for a robust vegan chili.

    Recipe #308717

These are practically health food, considering all the food groups involved. They are good. Your kids will want to sneak them.

    Recipe #285003

Many people have asked me for this recipe. It is ridiculously easy. I like to serve it with baby green beans (steamed, tossed in olive oil, salted).

    Recipe #284990

The reason for the no margarine is that vegan margarine is often made from palm oil, and the farming of palm oil is endangering orangutans, so I've heard. Anyway, this is great bread. If you have kids, make sure they eat their dinner first because they will really fill themselves on this, especially if it has some peanut butter on it.

    Recipe #284778

I frequently make "masoor dal" according to the recipe in Shanta Nimbark Sacharoff's "Flavors of India" cookbook. It is a fairly standard dal recipe; I'm sure any dal would work. I serve it with brown basmati rice. This is a recipe I invented to use up some leftover dal and rice. I was pleased that dal is so conducive to a southwestern flavor.

    Recipe #284748

While wonton wrappers contain egg, spring rolls are perfectly vegan! Although these contain protein, veggies, and carbs (a complete meal in themselves), I eat them with brown jasmine rice to prevent myself from eating too much fried food.

    Recipe #282556

I've worked long and hard on making a good cheeseless Italian calzone.
