    Found on livingthenourishedlife.com. You will need a stand up mixer or electric mixer and an wire whisk attachment to prepare this. DO NOT use a food processor or blender. If your coconut oil has turned to liquid, place it in the refrigerator until solid again. I used Heritage Store 'Aura Glow Almond Oil' (which by the way contains lanolin) and tried almond extract for the fragrance.

    Here's a quick and easy Mediterranean-inspired dish. Pink beans, cannellini or Great Northern beans can replace the pinto beans if you prefer. Turkish apricots, dates, raisins/currants can sub for prunes, too. From the cookbook 'Bean Banquet: from Boston to Bombay.     I put this together quite quickly tonight to accompany our main dish: Yellow, white, purple and orange carrots in combination would work really well with this recipe. A garnish on top of the cooked carrots of a fresh herb: parsley, mint, cilantro would be delicious!

    Thank you, Cousin Jack! The original recipe specified one full cup of orange juice *or* 1 cup cold water with 2 teaspoons fruit vinegar. I also tested the recipe with two cups of unbleached flour and 1 cup whole wheat flour. Use your favorite fillings, for ex: traditional pasties with beef , carrots and turnips or rutabagas, Greek, Italian, Mexican, etc. The delicious filling I tried here: the leftovers from Recipe #219680 and I broke up the meat into small pieces. The pasties also included some leftover roasted pink and yellow turnips from our local farmer's market and also a few very small red beet;- all roasted then diced. Makes 8 large pasties or 16 small pasties.

    From a local source. This recipe yields a significant amount of rice therefore I cut the recipe in half. Reminder: *FRESH* herbs ONLY! I do not know how closely this rice dish resembles traditional Persian polow recipes. I made a very rare exception by cooking the cilantro and green onions as I much prefer them raw. If you want this recipe vegan you can substitute olive oil or similar oil but you may not get that cherished crust. Our menu tonight included the Persian rice, Recipe #473901 and Recipe #495946.

    I used a combination of cauliflower and broccoli (romanesco will work, too.) I ran out of time to prepare my standard harissa sauce and tried this cheater's version: Recipe #113468 (subbing ketchup for tomato paste). Great as a side dish or appetizer. Copycat recipe from a restaurant in Portland, OR but don't know which one. Vegan friendly.

    From a local recipe. Omit the cheese for a vegan version. Vegetables used for the test recipe: carrots, parsnips, rutabaga/swede, red beet, golden beet, sweet potato (orange flesh variety), small Dutch potato and red potato. The golden beet was sliced thinly and stir fried with the other root vegetables. The red potato and Dutch potato were left unpeeled.

    I found this recipe last summer in one of my brother's cookbooks but I forget to write down which one. I will try to source it ASAP. The walnuts and dried fruit are my addition to the recipe. The dough was prepped in an ABM, too. I used a variety of imported olives from various sources including Greece, Spain, France, Morocco, Peru, etc. A drizzle of extra virgin olive oil on the still hot bread was so delicious!

    From 365 Ways to Cook Chicken. For this recipe I substituted chestnut flour I found last month in bulk at the local natural food store. The original recipe called for whole wheat flour. I added the onion and garlic powder and dried parsley to make it more palatable and agreeable to a five year old. The test recipe was cut in half.
