    Mmm delicious yellow rice. Don't forget to pick out the cloves and cardamom pods as you eat! Serve with Recipe #37989 (it won't be low fat any more if you serve it with this lovely buttery rice!)

    I was brought up on this in the north of England. Everyone has their variation--this is mine. It's simple, quick and easy, tastes delicious, and even better the next day! An ideal winter warmer, and a real family dinner. Serve with pickled onions (make your own the day before, sliced onions steeped in malt vinegar mmm) mushy peas(!) and bread and butter. Well, thats how I eat it anyway :)

    This is another of the dishes I've been brought up on. A warming, comforting dish, very nutritious and, without the dumplings, low in fat. The vegetables can be substituted, there are no hard and fast laws, after all, my nana makes it with whatever she has in the house! Feel free to experiment with combinations of vegetables. The only must is that the herbs are fished out before serving and that you serve with crusty buttered bread! I also like to liquidise some or all of the broth to give a thicker texture, though it then becomes vegetable soup. You may find you need more or less liquid--again, experiment.

    Sausages nestling in fluffy, golden, crisp Yorkshire pudding, served with hot onion gravy--one of my favourite traditional English recipes, a fantastic winter warmer and (especially if served with buttery mashed potato) real comfort food! I make this regularly in winter, though there's nothing stopping me fancying it in summer too! Can also be made into little individual sizes using cocktail sausages for the 'toads'. great for kids!

    This is really delicious, cheap and easy to make and best of all, low fat and low calorie (the chicken is really the only ingredient with a significant calorie count) Serve with plain boiled rice for dieters and add hot buttered fluffy naan bread for the foodies!! I don't pretend to claim that this is an authentic Indian recipe, I just like to eat it and so do my friends!

    This is the quickest, simplest most delicious pasta recipe i know. It looks so pretty speckled with red, green and black, and glossy with fragrant olive oil that you could serve it at a dinner party in small portions as a starter. Also fantastic when you have just got in from work or college and need food!

    I love this recipe, it is easy and fairly quick to make, I just made it up one day. It uses simple, everyday ingredients yet could be served at a fairly formal occasion. Best thing about it is that you can make it the day before, keep it in the fridge put it in the oven just before your guests/family arrive, then the air will be filled with an amazing, savoury smell!
