I got this recipe off from my friend's mum when we were in Ireland last year for our summer holidays. It is different from the other recipes I have found here with the addition of pearl barley. The original recipe states to add in the meat and the vegetables all in at once but I find that the veggies get a bit mushy with the long cooking time, so I add in the vegetables during the last hour. So, you could do it either way! I usually serve it with Irish Soda Bread. Here is Ms Happy Farmer's Recipe #228509 which we truly enjoyed!

    Recipe #293122

Indulge in this rich and creamy hot chocolate and ignore the calorie count!

    Recipe #288683

A wonderful Madhur Jaffrey recipe. You don't need an ice-cream maker for this recipe, but if you do have one, you may use it! There are quite a few recipes posted here which includes cream. Kulfi is not made with cream, it's made with reduced milk. You may use full-cream or semi-skimmed milk. So, it would help to have a wide, heavy based sauce-pan for boiling down the milk, but a heavy non-stick pan would do as well. Please note, the cooking time does not include cooling time and freezing time.

    Recipe #284802

This is a Delia Smith recipe so CANNOT go wrong with it! You may decorate it with currants or pipe on the icing after its been baked and cooled down or simply leave them plain.

    Recipe #272895

Serve it with your choice of crisp salad. It is great as a main course or a starter, or as a cold canape when sliced thinly. It goes exceptionally well with a sharp grapefruit salad! You may use low-fat cream cheese. Please note, cooking time does not include chilling time.

    Recipe #267137

These are gorgeous little cupcakes - for your eyes and tastebuds! You may make the filling with orange curd (replace lemon with 1 large orange) instead of lemon or quite simply fill them up with whipped cream.

    Recipe #251318

These are wonderful little muffins that are so quick and easy to make! The only point to remember is that you will need to use 'very ripe bananas' that have gone 'brown'. You may replace the milk chocolate with white chocolate, chopped nuts or even dried fruits if you wish. PLEASE NOTE: The important thing is not to over mix the batter - you do not want it smooth. Over-mixing the batter will yield tough, rubbery muffins.

    Recipe #251051

A lovely party snack served with the dip on the side or you may even use these crushed into smaller pieces over any green salad in place of croutons.

    Recipe #233168

The spicy tangy prawns are lovely served by themselves with some grilled lime wedges but I love the flavours of the salsa along with it.. so either way, it's delicious! Cooking time indicated includes marinating time.

    Recipe #233022

This can be served as is with a yoghurt or tahini dip or as a light lunch in pita wraps with shredded lettuce, mint leaves and tomatoes with tahini sauce drizzled on top. Cooking time indicated includes marinating time. Edited to add: Please use a good cut of meat. The best cuts are usually boneless leg of lamb and shoulder, cubed. To avoid burning the outside or flareups, trim of excess fat. Pull off the thin transparent membrane surrounding the meat and trim off any connective tissues.

    Recipe #232789

Very cool and refreshing side dish, goes very well with spicy curries, naan bread and even grilled meat. This can be made upto a day in advance, cover and refrigerate and stir before serving.

    Recipe #231041

This is a 'must-make' when having friends and family over for barbecue. 'Slashing' the drumsticks not only allows the flavours to penetrate deeply, but to ensure that the meat is cooked through to the bone as evenly as possible. Please note, cooking time indicated includes marinating time.

    Recipe #230769

This is a meal by itself. To butterfly the chicken breast, place the breast flat onto a work surface, and with one hand on top to hold it in place, slice through the middle horizontally to cut almost in half and open out flat. To peel and chop a lemon, cut a slice from the top and the bottom of the fruit. Cut away the rind, pith and skin, working from top to bottom, following the curve of the fruit. Slice the peeled fruit crosswise into 1/4 inch slices and then stack and chop the slices finely. Please note, cooking time indicated includes marinating time and roasting time of garlic for garlic mayo.

    Recipe #230768

This is a lovely salad dish served chilled or at room temperature, perfect with any grilled meat.

    Recipe #230721

This makes a lovely light lunch, but if you wish you may serve the chicken by itself as starters with chilli Mayo as a dip on the side. Cooking time indicated includes marinating time.

    Recipe #230718

This can be served as finger food by itself, or serve each piece of chicken alongwith the garnish in individual crisp lettuce cups. Cooking time indicated includes marinating time.

    Recipe #230714

These little cakes are good served with some plain yoghurt or coriander chutney. Cooking time indicated does not include chickpeas cooking time.

    Recipe #228245

The nicest thing about jacket potatoes is its crisp, crunchy skins and fluffy, floury insides with some lovely filling melted into them! As an accompaniment, one half of the potato will be sufficient per person, or 1 potato per person if serving as a supper dish with a salad. Please note, you will have to serve them immediately because, after you remove jacket potatoes from the oven, they lose their crispness very quickly, so don't let them hang around for too long.

    Recipe #228171

This is the only way I can get my DH to eat chickpeas and aubergines! Serve with plain rice or flat bread. Cooking time indicated does not include the cooking time for chickpeas.

    Recipe #228064

This is a delicious prawn dish with a thick curry sauce served with rice.
