This time of year our tangerine tree is BOOMING! So I am always looking for creative ways to use them. This on is tasty! *You can substitute oranges if you don't have tangerines coming out your ears like we do.
I wanted a different green for our Thanksgiving feast. I love Brussels sprouts along with half of my family, the other half hates them--all enjoyed this dish! Recipe from Sunset magazine. They suggest smaller sized sprouts to make it look pretty, I just quartered some of the larger ones. I don't know what steamed chestnuts are so I substituted water chestnuts with delicious results
Oh my gosh YUM! What an awesome combination of flavors. Came from Sunset magazine. I left out the cilantro, cause I don't like it and used canned corn rather then frozen. Super easy to make. You gotta try it!
This comes from a cookbook called "Food to Live By". So far every single recipe I've tried from it has been AMAZING. This one was no exception. I used honey ham deli meat for the ham, egg beaters and soymilk instead of milk.
Found this recipe in a sunset magazine. I made them for my Christmas packages. I am glad I gave most of them away because otherwise I'd have eaten all of them within hours! Lot's of praise has been received for my baking skills this year from the recipients. Soft texture, spicy flavor and yummy frosting.
I doctored this magazine clipped recipe for my taste buds. One serving filled me up but my fiance liked it so much he went back for seconds and continues raving about it. Nice and healthy. Next time I am going to substitute brown rice for the boca for a new twist.
This is from my favorite cookbook: Food to Live By by Myra Goodman. I'm posting it so that I can easily get to it on my upcoming Oregon trip. I am a berry fiend but they are hard to come by in Hawaii! It looks great and I can't wait to try it.
This recipe comes from a friend of my mom. My fiance and I credit this recipe for getting us into our current home-I bribed my landlord with a batch when we turned in the rent application!! No one I know has ever tasted better lemon bars.
Delicious, buttery, creamy comfort food. great paired with meat and green veggies. (NOTE**The original recipe used heavy whipping cream but I wanted to cut down the fat. It is a bit soupy and might benefit from a flour roux).
Another chocolate bread pudding to add to my collection. Made it for Thanksgiving dessert and it was a huge hit. The best thing is that cinnamon whipped cream tastes great with pumpkin and apple pie too! This one is not quite as decadent as the dark chocolate version I have posted. Note: I used a loaf of Hawaiian sweet bread but any quality white or sweet bread will do.
