    This is an adaptation of a recipe I found here, Mims & Squims 100% Whole Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes #218671. As I wrote in her review of the "tweaks" I made to suit my husband's and I eating style, I realized it was pretty much a recipe unto it's own, so I'm posting it here as well. I added approximately 4 TBS dried blueberries to one cup of the batter, but you can add any type of fresh, frozen or dried fruit of your choice. ***Beware of dried fruits with added sugars if you too are watching your sugar intake.

    My sugar free and much less expensive version of the ever popular smoothie! I got tired of paying $5 or more for ONE smoothie. You can change the fruits around to suit your taste. The combos are endless! I've also used peaches, raspberries, and mangos in the past. I've also added ground golden flaxseeds for those Omega oils. The recipe below is "per blender". Depending on the size of your blender, this could be too much, or could be very little. Adjust according to your blender.

    I was trying to "calorie and sugar" down an old favorite and this is the result! Let me just add that hubby and I put a big dent in this dish tonight! Enjoy! Notes: You can substitute fresh/frozen/canned peaches, cherries, blueberries, pineapples, apples, etc. The list and combinations are endless. You can also substitute margarine as my mother always did too.

    This recipe was created based on what I had in my kitchen and recipe #89204. When I use chicken, I like tomatillo verde or green, versus a red tomato salsa or sauce. I just like the green tomatoes much better with chicken. I had one can black beans and one can small red beans, so that's what I used. I had the two different jars of verde tomatillo sauce/salsa and it worked like a charm. I made the comment that I would use two of one kind the next time and hubby said, don't change that recipe! He LOVED it. We used flour and corn tortillas and made tacos with the meat. Hubby heated and poured it over Frito's. We used sour cream and shredded cheeses for toppings. My next batch will be the filling for enchiladas in corn and flour tortillas and mozzarella cheese topped w/green sauce and queso fresco. I used a 6 qt crock pot and it's perfect size for the amount of food. Freezes very well. If you want to make it more of a soup, add chicken broth before cooking til preferred consistency for soup. You may need to add more once the cream cheese is added. Would be great with tortilla chips or over brown rice.

    Ok, so it's famous in "my" world! :) This is my ground turkey chili recipe that I've been making/perfecting for years, but am finally posting for safe keeping. My sister made this for the first time for Christmas to serve w/homemade tamales and she was very impressed! Her kids can be picky about their food and they loved it too. She said she rarely made chili because she didn't have a good recipe, but now she does! Best compliment ever! Note: You can add all types of embellishments to the menu; corn or tortilla chips, avocado slices, sour cream, shredded cheese, chopped onions/chives, Mexican crema, chopped tomatoes, onion, black beans, corn, corn bread, and on and on.
