One of my most treasured gadgets is a clay Romertopf cooker. It makes the most delicious and moist roasted chicken or turkey I have ever tasted.
You have to soak both lid and body of the cooker for 10/15 minutes in cold water before you can use it. It's the steam that produces the cooking medium so no oil or fats are needed making the cooker a very healthful way of cooking.
Beetroot (US Beets) is not one of my DH's favorite veggie. In our local newspaper was a recipe that I just had to try as I love beetroot but don't get to eat them very often unless I go to a restaurant.
If you like beetroots then you will love this recipe.
When my mother (who was actually my paternal grand-mother) passed away in the 80's I found a few books of hers that none of my siblings wanted and to my delight I found a number of loose pages in an old gardening book of her recipes that I remember as a child.
Here's one of them.
Renee was one of my employee's when I was managing the 2 gift stores at the Hyatt Hotel in Incline Village, Lake Tahoe back in the late 1990's.
This is her recipe for these lovely chocolate chip cookies.
Here is a tried and true recipe that I have made many times since living here in the USA. It's the nearest to authentic British chip shop that you can get (apart from the parsley thats my take on this recipe)
My DH loves this meal and requests it often.
I was looking for a different burger and came across this recipe on allrecipes.com Credit goes to the poster who submitted this delicious gourmet burger, MollyS.
These take a little time but so worth the extra effort as they turned out wonderfully moist and juicy. Try to buy the best minced beef you can for a truely gourmet taste.
We were invited to a BBQ by our neighbour and someone brought along this delicious skewered chicken and mango dipping sauce.
Being the foodie that I am and loving the taste of the fruit, chicken and dipping sauce I pleaded for the recipe.
A local restaurant recipe. Not that they gave me this recipe out of the goodness of their hearts I purchased a book quite a few years ago called "The best of the tastes of Tahoe" by Sonnie Imes which I am sure you can find on Amazon.com if anyone is interested. All the local restaurants in the area got together and gave some of their recipes to contribute to the book.
Whenever I visit the U.K. I always make the time for a couple of days with my sister Babs who lives near Hastings. One of my favorite meals that she always prepares for me is her meat pie served with creamy mashed potatoes, veggies and thick Bisto gravy. Comfort food at it's finest
This is my friend Teena's recipe that comes from her great grand-mother who came to this country from Sicily and has been handed down through her family.
It is great for canning or freezing and absolutely delicious.
I absolutely love a roast dinner and prime rib has got to be one of the kings of the roast meats when cooked right. A lot of people like their prime rib almost raw but I cannot abide any meat with blood running out of it, I prefer mine just slightly pink in the middle and medium well on the outside.
