    Salzburg Nockerl
    Handle

A "kitchenaid standing mixer" makes this recipe a breeze. This is my version of the famous nockerl dessert. Use however much butter coats your baking pan, and whatever jam is to your liking.

    Recipe #442649

    Select
    Chicken Corn Chowder
    Handle

My family's take on chicken corn chowder. Use good quality thick bacon for the recipe, and go organic for as many ingredients as possible. Must use yukon gold or other smaller gold potatoes as they help thicken the soup. Use of other potatoes will not work. This is not a low fat/low calorie food, just a warning.

    Recipe #440615

    Select
Portuguese Style Bean and Kale Soup
    Handle

"2 links linguica" is about 13 oz of sausage, give of take. Really the whole recipe is a give or take kind of recipe, to taste. I have sometimes added a chopped carrot for color and taste. Also you can use chicken broth or stock. Really good on a cold night.

    Recipe #439976

    Select
    Chocolate Cheesecake Tart Gluten-Free
    Handle

A gluten free cheesecake tart with chocolate. To get gluten-free snickerdoodles, go to Trader Joes for them or I guess make your own somehow. I actually made 1 1/4 cup of cookie-pecan mix (so a bit over 1/2 c each) but ended up with extra crust, but that is better than not enough! When I put the shaved chocolate bar in between the layers, I used Ritter Sport hazelnut milk chocolate.

    Recipe #439438

    Select
    Plum Apricot Crisp Gluten-Free
    Handle

Disclaimer: My measurements are always estimates. This is a gluten-free recipe (caution: Quaker Oats is gluten free but made in a facility that processes wheat) that even my gluten-eating relatives enjoyed eating, which is always a good sign. In the ingredients,3 ounces quaker oatmeal means two packages(those little 1-serving ones). I used the non-high fiber type. The fruit I used was organic and quite small so you may wish to adjust the number of fruits

    Recipe #437358

    Select
    Gluten-Free Zucchini Fritters
    Handle

Pancake meets fritter, with some Indian spice. Gluten free!

    Recipe #435440

    Select
Crock-Pot Take on Feijoada (Black Bean Stew)
    Handle

A take on authentic feijoada, although this is not authentic. I was short time and ingredients, but it still came out delicious. Use smoked polish sausage, or longaniza sausage if you cannot find linguica. If you must use the other sausages, I suggest you add 1/8 teaspoon paprika to the mix.

    Recipe #401834

    Select
    Afghani Inspired Spinach Dish
    Handle

I tried to make palak paneer, an Indian dish, but was short many ingredients so I decided to fashion the dish after an afghani dish I'd had.

    Recipe #398090

    Select
    Bengan Bharta Indian Eggplant
    Handle

I love bengan bharta, and the recipe is below. Sweet, smokey, spicy....yum! I was short the requested spices once and substituted all but garlic for: equal parts of garam masala spice mix, berbere spice mix, and hot curry spice mix, to total 1.5 tablespoons.

    Recipe #381933

    Select
    Bread Pudding Thanksgiving
    Handle

Good for a Thanksgiving or other holiday dessert, and also delicious as a morning breakfast. If you cannot find ciabatta bread, como, pugliese, or other European bread with holes in the dough work well. You may use any type of chopped walnut. I cook it at 350-375 for about an hour...really, when it is golden on top and squishy on the inside, yet the knife comes out clean (moist maybe, but clean) when you poke it. I know....not so technical! Also the ingredients are what I think they are, as this is one of those this-and-that recipes. I experimented with less cinnamon, more orange zest, and a splash of scotch into the liquid....it was quite a tasty variation.

    Recipe #340394

    Select
    Chicken Tomato Balti
    Handle

Spicy chicken dish best served over rice

    Recipe #339469

    Select
Crookneck Squash an Early Taste of Autumn
    Handle

Using the "true" version of crookneck squash- not the smooth soft yellow kind but the golden variety with tougher skin and plenty of warty bumps....a taste of fall a little early

    Recipe #319043

    Select
    Watermelon Drink
    Handle

Watermelon agua fresca- a very refreshing drink adapted from an LA times recipe.

    Recipe #312972

    Select
    Maionese Brazilian Potato Salad
    Handle

This potato salad seems lighter than the American version in my opinion, and is great eaten chilled on a hot day. Use the olives of your choice, but kalamata would be too strong. You can substitute many vegetables with frozen defrosted ones to save time. Where I said "1/3 cup" I mean a handful, but recipezaar did not like that, so 1/3 cup it is.

    Recipe #301310

    Select
    Guinness Beef Pie
    Handle

British Isles-themed pot pie, based on a recipe by chef Jamie Oliver.

    Recipe #288297

    Select
    Spicy Tri-Tip Chili
    Handle

Award winning recipe from Backwoods BBQ in Corona, Ca as per the newspaper clipping I saw. Their chili is spicy and addictive!

    Recipe #283386

    Select
    Moroccan Carrots
    Handle

A good side salad from Morocco. Not 100% sure how Moroccan it is as I looked at a bunch or recipes, experimented, and made one of my own concoctions. Either way it tastes good.

    Recipe #280948

    Select
    Tagine Chicken
    Handle

I got a tagine for my birthday and thought I'd try out some Moroccan cuisine. I did not want to brown the chicken in it for fear of breaking it, which probably would not happen in the first place....but I started cooking in a skillet and transferred it to the tajine. If you do not have a tagine, I'm sure a covered skillet would work just fine.

    Recipe #280761

    Select
    Country Chicken
    Handle

A hearty Eastern European inspired dish.

    Recipe #261894

    Select
    Hint of Spice Cookies
    Handle

These sugar cookies have the most subtle hint of spice to them, and are good with your afternoon tea.
