Similar to flan —but without the extra carbs— this creamy custard makes a refreshing finale to any spicy meal. This recipe can be made up to 1 day ahead, covered with plastic wrap and stored in the refrigerator.
I made this for a potluck at work and everyone asked for a copy of the recipe! Delicious with French vanilla ice cream.
Can also vary fruit fillings and cake flavors as desired.
I use a 5 qt. Rival crock pot. Others who have tried this recipe and used older and deeper crock pots needed to adjust cooking times.
Just like the spinach side dish I had at an expensive Chicago steak house! I only use fresh spinach for this, but it can be used with frozen. Just substitute 4 pkg. (10 oz. each) frozen spinach leaves, thawed and drained, for the fresh spinach. Cook mushrooms and garlic as directed. Add spinach; cook until heated through, stirring frequently. Continue as directed.
