I first tasted these muffins at a brunch and the hostess was kind enough to give me the recipe.I asked her about the name she had given them, and she said if any food could ever say "Good Morning!" these muffins were it.
This is one of my husband's favourite desserts that his mother use to make for him when he was growing up in the 50's, and when we got married it was one of the first things I learned to make for him. This is delicious served warm from the oven with good quality vanilla ice cream.
This dish is not only delicious, but fast and easy too. When dinner has to be on the table in 20 minutes this is the recipe I always reach for. When I know I'm going to be pressed for time at 6 o'clock the next day, I cut the chicken into strips the night before. Then it's only minutes from the skillet to table.
My mother made these muffins for us when we were kids and always used her home made crabapple jelly in them. I use strawberry or raspberry jam since thats what my kids like and they both work well, but feel free to use what ever you like.
A soup is only as good as the stock it is made from and this is a good, basic vegetable stock that I use as the base for my Tortellini Minestrone With Spinach. Since it makes a lot, I freeze it in individual batches, each bag holding enough for 1 batch of soup. You can vary the vegetables to suit your taste but watch out for strong flavoured veggies that will dominate the stock and potatoes which will make it cloudy.
This is a new twist on an old favourite...pie and vanilla ice cream. This brandied mincemeat ice cream is great served with apple or pumpkin pie and the spiked custard sauce drizzled over it all. If micemeat with rum and brandy isn't available just add a little bottled rum or brandy to some plain mincemeat.I do use the mincemeat with rum and brandy in it, but I like to add a little more.
When you want a change from the same old apple pie, these miniature apple pies are a nice alternative.I find the double crust and the smaller size of the pies a good balance for the sweetness of the filling. These are best served warm with a good quality vanilla ice cream.
I've been making this rice dish for quite some time now, and it's one of my favourites. It's an interesting combination of tastes and textures that I find pleasing to the palate.I toast the cashews first to give them a little extra crunch.
This, my favourite fudge recipe,is from an old Good Housekeeping Christmas Cook Book dated 1959. It's a little time consuming to make but well worth the effort; and the addition of dates really does make this fudge special. Prep time includes resting period before being spread into pan.
Tender chunks of chicken and crunchy broccoli in a rich, tangy lemon cream sauce. I use low-fat sour cream and low-fat mayonnaise with little affect to the recipe. This is a wonderful recipe if your looking for something different!
This recipe was put out 22 years ago by Hellman's and it's one of my favourites. I added the cherry topping along the way, but I've also served it topped with whipped cream and crushed Andes mints which is equally delicious.
