From Everyday Food, Oct 2006. Crock pot instructions follow oven instructions. I made this for the first time yesterday (Oct 16 07) and found, though good, it needed more. I'm thinking gravy thickener next time. Easy recipe to adapt to your liking, for sure. :)

From "The Back-Country Kitchen." This easy camping version is a one-pot vegetarian dish that combines the best of many styles. Cooked as directed, it makes a hearty main dish or side dish. If you prefer a soupy chili mac, simply add an additional 3/4 cup water. I am curious if this would work on the campfire as well; I will be doing just that in two weeks.

    Recipe #125840

From "The Back-Country Kitchen." It's easier to cook the scones in the fire than on your campstove. If your skillet has a loose-fitting lid, wrap the entire skillet/lid tightly in foil; the foil will hold the skillet and lid together, and will also make skillet clean-up easier. You also use two small baking pans that are the same size as each other; wrap in foil as described, or clamp together with four of those metal "binder clips" sold at office supply stores. Smaller "disposable" foil pans work for this also; clamp together or cover with foil.

    Recipe #125739

Mom got the recipe from her Mennonite Cook Book. I always seem to lose the written recipe and have to call her for it. I use a clove of garlic, diced tomatoes, light and dark kidney beans, 3 tsp of chili powder. This recipe is so easy to tweak. This is GREAT the next day! Wonderful over french fries or mashed potatoes too! Freezes very well. Easily doubled.

    Recipe #100749

Prep time does not include time to cook rice (as this differs with the method used by chef). Cook time does not include reheating time. I have not used the crock pot to reheat these; I wonder if this too could be done?

    Recipe #100550

From BHG Kid Favorites Made Healthy. These were truly delicious, and my kids (3 & 5) loved them, too!! The original recipe make 18 - 2-1/2" muffins. I use 2-inch muffin cups, and end up extra mix (I made six more 2-inch + eight 1-1/2 inch muffins for the kdis).

    Recipe #100357

From Ontario Chicken Lover (Wing Magazine). The picture looked so scrumptious I had to try it. If you think it is strange, or you won't like this (as I thought) I would recommend trying this anyway. My girls gobbled it up, and my husband loved it as well. We served it with white rice.

    Recipe #100266

My Grammie made the BEST spaghetti sauce!! This recipe is very versatile. I use more garlic and my homemade, chunky tomato sauce for my version which makes a thicker, fresher tasting sauce. My Mom adds a sausage and chicken breasts. My Dad loves spicy so he always adds a nice hot sausage and chili flakes.

    Recipe #100054

Off a Golden Crisco package. WOW! Are these good! My husband and I couldn't stop eating (I'm ashamed to admit). We omit the nuts, as our daughters are allergic to peanuts (and it is difficult to find nuts that are not cross-contaminated).

    Recipe #99953

My mom has made this forever, it seems. She used to make them with maraschino cherries (that I always picked off). Now she makes them with Smarties (candy-coated chocolate pieces) for my kids. I believe the recipe was from a Mennonite Cookbook.

    Another family recipe! So good!!

    Recipe #99765

My MIL gave me her recipe...this is so deliciously moist, and always a winner!

    Recipe #99535

My mother-in-law showed me this recipe - so easy my kids could make it! I have kept this very general as it really depends on the size of the trout you have, and your personal preference when it comes to the lemon. We catch speckle trout (all about 10 - 12 inches long); So tasty and sweet! Best with FRESH fish!! This could be served at camp too! Just bring the whole lemons and butter (ooh, even a few cloves of previously roasted garlic!)

    Recipe #98497

From The Popular Potato, Best Recipes (1989). I wanted to try something different with my fave vegetable. I ate it on its own, but I can see this along-side fish or chicken! I used smaller potatoes and cut them in wedges instead of using slices.

    Recipe #96681

Not sure where I found this recipe now, just know it is a fave in our house.

    Recipe #96366

I used to frequent a cross stitch message board, and Stacie shared her banana bread recipe. I have made this numerous times - always a winner, and always eaten quickly!
