This is a no-fail recipe. Fluffy on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside. You can also substitute regular milk for the buttermilk and they turn out just as good!
I have a Belgian waffle maker that flips 180 degrees, so please note that the "flipping waffle maker over" part of the recipe is aimed at that type of machine (think Waffle House). If you have a standard waffle maker, I'd suggest pouring the batter into the center of the bottom and spreading it out a little with a spoon before closing the lid.
Several years ago, I went to the Saints Helen and Constantine Greek Orthodox Church's Greek festival (in Richmond, Virginia). The ladies of the church got together and make a cookbook with all their handed down, traditional Greek family recipes. This is by far THE BEST spanakopita I've ever eaten!
I found this in my Southern Living Ultimate Quick and Easy cookbook and made it last night for the first time. This one's definitely a "keeper," as my husband puts it. Even our notoriously picky 3 year old loved it, if that tells you anything!
Found this recipe in the small cookbook that came with the Crock Pot I purchased 10 or so years ago. Not sure why it's called a "casserole"--it's more like a stew, but oh, so so good! I didn't use the tapioca though. I waited until about 30 minutes before it was done, and I mixed 1 tablespoon corn starch with 1/4 cup water and added to the Crock Pot. It's fabulous!
I found this (strangely enough) in a newsletter advertising area flea markets/antique shops in Tennessee while we were passing through on vacation. (My husband picked the flier up at a rest area.) I gave it a shot, and wow...outstanding!
This recipe was given to me by a friend who would burn water if she tried to cook. :) She took a cooking class, and this is one of the dishes they made. Very easy, and VERY good! (Albeit a bit fattening)
This is my great grandmother's recipe. If you like fruitcake, you'll love this! Her original recipe card had only the ingredients listed. My mom who (thankfully!) has seen granny make this cake a thousand times, remembered the baking time and how to prepare the pans.
