I've recently discovered tahini and absolutely love it! In this healther adaptation of tuna salad, tahini replaces mayonnaise as the emulsifier and adds unique flavor along with the Middle Eastern spices. I like to add apples to my tuna salad for a contrasting sweet, tart flavor.
The frozen blueberries give this smoothie a little icy thickness and really chill it down. In addition, blueberries are very healthy: they are high in antioxidants and vitamin C. There also have been studies indicating that blueberries slow the aging process of the brain! Simple, delicious, and healthy!
I concocted this hummus the other day from a combination of garlic hummus recipes here on Zaar. Since I found it kinda bland, I added a few more spices and the vegetables. I used about a 1/2 cup of vegetables in total. You can really use any combination of vegetables that you want: red pepper, red onion, and celery would also be good!
My boyfriend and I put this together one night for dinner using leftovers. We didn't have pizza sauce, so we decided to use salsa with some tomato paste (salsa alone is too watery). If you like a thicker pizza sauce, use more tomato paste and less salsa. While we were making it, I was thinking that the flavors were probably going to come together really well even though it was thrown together randomly. It was delicious! Great for a busy weeknight!
Well, I tagged toni gifford's Recipe #106966 in Please Review My Recipe, and I didn't see anything that inspired me for filling...sooooo I modified my Recipe #211482 a bit to create this delectable filling :) mmmmm it's creamy and delicious and (somewhat) healthy?? The French would not approve.
