I was puttering in the kitchen this morning and bemoaning the fact that I was out of bread when I decided to make this. It tasted so good I had to post it. Enjoy! will serve 1-2 people main dish or up to 4 side dish.
My new 1 1/2 quart ice cream freezer is getting a work out!! Came up with this idea after wondering if it would work, and it did, wonderfully. I used butterscotch pudding but I imagine any flavor would work. Note that this doesn't use extra sugar. The pudding should be enough.
A hearty soup for those cold days. Use either Polish Kielbasa or Smoked Sausage. Kielbasa gives a sweet taste to the soup while Smoked sausage gives a great background for the beans. It's delish either way.
This is a cheat version of a recipe my Grandmother used to make. She spent days folding and greasing the dough so it came out layered and flaky. Since I have neither the time or patience to make that dough I found an easier method. There are two ways to fold these and I'll cover both below.
First the name is a goof. This meatloaf has nothing to do with my being Hungarian except that I am so it's an appropriate title. This is an adaption of another recipe I found elsewhere (heavily changed too I add). I happen to think it's killer. Hope you do too.
Perhaps "lower" calorie would be more accurate since total calories is based upon your ability to control your serving size. In any case this is an effort to reduce the total calories, and carbs, of the entire pie. If anyone has a simple recipe for a low carb savory crust please let me know.
I found a basic version of this recipe in an article titled "75 ways to use eggs" I've spiced it up in testing and the result is a delicious breakfast omelette chock full of calories and cholesterol (lol). This recipe isn't for the faint hearted! (Note: These amounts make four omelettes one at a time. Place omelettes in a covered baking dish and keep warm in oven until all four are done if serving a family)
A quick to prepare and light dessert to serve after that heavy dinner. Great any time of year. Although I haven't tried it I believe that using non-fat cream cheese and whipped topping along with Splenda instead of regular sugar would be a suitable low calorie dessert.
English translation, GREASY BREAD. This recipe is very popular in my extended family and we usually have it during our annual reunion. I don't suggest this as a regular diet staple or it would probably result in early heart disease lol. This is a picnic item usually served prior to a meal as an appetizer.
