So yummy. Pears oven baked and poached in a honey-wine sauce with cinnamon and orange flavors infused. The first time DH and I had this for dessert we were simply astounded at how these simple flavors combined to make such a rich and flavorful treat.

    Recipe #233550

Here is a nice technique for grilling fries that is pretty low calorie and also tasty. The whole family liked these, and next time we want "French Fries" I will probably make these. They are easier and healthier and yummier. From Bobby Flay and "Boy Meets Grill" on Food Network. I don't have "ancho chili powder", so I just used regular chili powder.

    Recipe #233540

I found this at the MyFoodDiary.com forums, but originally it comes from SELF magazine. The original salad used radishes, but I substitute green onions instead. Healthy fats in this salad, but I've also reduced the amount of oil in the dressing. Sometimes I eat the leftovers in a tortilla as a sort of veggie or salad wrap.

    Recipe #232311

There are already a lot of fish taco recipes on Zaar. But this one is a little different than the others. I found this recipe on the Internet somewhere. We really like it. I serve it with Recipe #232299, instead of the cabbage and sauce that are suggested.

    Recipe #232309

Adapted from one of Emeril's recipes, where he did an episode with "crazy tacos". We like to make this and serve it in the fish tacos. I don't use Emeril's fish taco recipe, though. Instead I serve with Recipe #232309. I've change the propotions a bit and added some extras like cilantro and carrots. I really like the onions. Update 6/6/07: I made this tonight and measured everything as I made it, so I've updated the amounts (usually I don't measure, but just eyeball it).

    Recipe #232299

Adapted from Bon Appetite magazine. Plantains are those big bananas in the supermarket. Often used in Caribbean cooking. They are a starch and must be cooked before eating. In this recipe they are an alternative to mashed potatoes. The original recipe basically had more butter and sour cream. Increase those if you want a richer dish.

    Recipe #232102

Posted in the MyFoodDiary.com forums, from a newspaper article some time back. Excellent salad, and very healthy. Tasty. Healthy. You can't go wrong. Even my kids like this one.

    Recipe #232061

Tabbouleh Libanaise. An authentic recipe for tabouli salad found on a Lebanese website (DownTownBeirut.com). Authentic tabouli is mostly parsley with very little bulgur at all.

    Recipe #232058

From Eating Well magazine, one of my favorite salads. The flavors blend so well and compliment and the textures are marvelous. If you have the white cheddar with a red pear, the colors are nice. When I get a green pear I just use yellow cheddar.

    Recipe #231749

A very yummy, quick and easy and NOT low-cal recipe I got from the MyFoodDiary.com forums. Different from cornbread. This is soft and served out of the pan with a spoon. Too soft to cut into squares and eat out of hand. Eat with a fork.

    Recipe #231661

From the AllRecipes site. I guess this was traditionally an English dish made with leftovers from Xmas dinner. Not sure this resembles the traditional dish much, but my family all like it. Pretty quick to make. I usually don't have leftover baked potatoes, so I mae the potatoes in the afternoon and let them cool. Then I halve them lengthwise, and the slice them about 1/4 inch thick, or maybe less. I've also occasionally tossed in other leftover vegetables, such as peas or carrots. I suppose you could serve with catsup or salsa or something, but we like it just as-is. I usually serve a side of cantaloupe with it.

    Recipe #231561

Amazing pie, from the cover of Bon Apetite Magazine, April 2007. From their R.S.V.P. column. This recipe comes from Jamie's Restaurant in Pensacola, FL. I served it at Memorial Day family get-together, and everyone said it was amazing. I agree. A bit time consuming to put together, but SO worth it! Time to make is an estimate (I didn't really keep track.) Freezing times are included in the "passive cooking time".

    Recipe #230880

Sweet potatoes mashed with butter (or peanut oil) and spicy chiles and seasonings. From "Everyday Vegetables" by Jack Bishop. A zippy little side, different from the usual sweet potatoes. Vegan if you use the peanut oil instead of the butter.

    Recipe #230419

Not diet food. So rich. So creamy. Decadent. Make it. Enjoy it. I've made this 3 times now and my family just loves it. I made it to serve at the big family Christmas, too. Not your traditional orange "Mac and Cheese". From "Everyday Italian" show on Food Network. The original recipe claims 8 servings, but we get more like 8 from a 3/4 recipe. I would say it does 12 servings. It is very rich.

    Recipe #228972

Basically a very creamy mango smoothie type of beverage. From Food Network and Bobby Flay's "Boy Meets Grill" show. This was a Cuban food episode with a couple of different types of burgers and some grilled potatoes. The whole family liked these, even my son who doesn't care for mangoes. Even he said that this is a "Make again".

    Recipe #228971

This is a fabulous quinoa pilaf that pairs well with grilled or broiled meats, or could even be a main vegetarian course. I like to have leftovers for breakfast with a fried egg on top. From the Eating Well magazine. Super healthy and yummy. If you use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth it is a vegan recipe.

    Recipe #228500

Adapted from Cooking Light. A healthy and different way to eat sweet potatoes, and one of my favorites. Goes well as a side with grilled meats or sandwiches. I like this because it is quick, easy, tasty, and excepting the cilantro I almost always have all the ingredients on hand. On top of all that, it's healthy and low-calorie. What's not to like?

    Recipe #228488

This is a simple and low calorie topping/compote, as told to me by someone in the MyFoodDiary.com forums. You can use it as a topping/mixin for plain yogurt, top ice cream with it, put it over toast (with cream cheese?), stir it into oatmeal, eat it with a dab of whipped topping or just plain. Sweet and tart yummy treat.

    Recipe #224744

Adapted from Heidi Swanson, cookbook author. I haven't tried this yet, but it looks awfully good. Serve atop pasta, on baguettes, or over pizza or potatoes. Makes enough for 8 ounces dried pasta or 12 ounces fresh.

    Recipe #224509

Easy to make and goes well with fish or chicken. Adapted from Cooking Light. I recently served this with Recipe #182766 soft taco style with romaine and avocado.
