Disclaimer: I did not create this recipe. I found it on a response to a Yahoo Answers question where someone asked for a recipe for McCallister's Chicken Tortilla Soup. I have not attempted this recipe, but it looks promising so I am posting it here for safe keeping. Let me know if you try it before I do!!

    Recipe #484645

If you have been to a wedding in St. Louis you have had Mostaccioli. Some versions are good, some...well let's just say I hope you have avoided the versions that taste like canned tomato soup. This is not one of those, this, in my opinion is a little taste of heaven.

In our house we would rather make our own pizza than order out most nights. My daughter and son have perfected their method for making Stuffed Crust Pizza (like Pizza Hut) with sticks of string cheese. My son, Sam is our sauce maker and has dveloped this recipe after trying several different recipes. You might like to try his sauce with our crust, Recipe #191750

A copycat recipe for Cinnamon Burst Bread. The light texture of the bread is wonderful. Cinnamon chips are hard to find, and the ones that I have found so far (Hershey's) do not duplicate the taste of the ones in the genuine GH bread. I found this recipe on a site that is now defunct so I am posting it here to share and for safe keeping.

The first several times I tried making prime rib, it came out tasting more like a traditional roast beef, than the "Prime Rib's" that I had at restaurants. This one was the exception, it came out picture prefect and succulent. The salt is not eaten, and is discarded after you finish cooking. *As the one very critical review pointed out I put in the wrong internal temperature for medium rare. IT SHOULD BE 130 DEGREES.

This recipe came to me from my friend Toni. Se is a wonderful woman who taught me a lot about Asian cooking. She is truly more than a friend, as my children consider her another grandma, and when they want this chicken they ask for "Grandma Toni's Chicken". ;-) It is highly flexible as Toni always cooks by taste. She always uses chicken leg quarters, because after raising 6 kids she totally understands frugal-but other, leaner cuts of chicken turn out wonderful as well. Toni's method when using leg quarters is to seperate the leg and thigh, then de-bone the chicken, but to leave the skin on for grilling. I now leave the bone in to simplify chicken and it still comes out just as good. When I find a great deal on chicken, especially during grilling season, I buy a lot of the chicken and the 2 gallon size zipper bags and make multiple batches of marinade, put the chicken in it and freeze it in the marinade. It is wonderful to pull it out of the freezer and just let it thaw and be ready to grill. Lastly, I am putting this in with Toni's amounts which are large, but it can be very easily adjusted.

This is an Alton Brown recipe that he shared on Good Eats. He said that it was one of his mother's recipes. I have always liked cabbage, but I hate the process of cooking it, especially the smell that comes along with it. Reportedly following these directions will produce cabbage that is not soggy or smelly!! Placed here for safe keeping.

If I was not already in love with my husband when I married him, getting at this recipe for my mother-in-law's potato salad would have been reason enough to tie the knot! Just kidding Honey!! If you are a fan of the classic Americana brand of potato salad, then try this one. This recipe's proportions are for a crowd, so adjust as desired for family size portions.

This is like a religion in my family. You do not mess with it and everyone is a part of making it. This is a combination of corn and white bread. It is simple, but so deliscious. This is a traditional recipe that has been handed down through at least four generations. All amounts given are very approximate and subject to change according to your taste.

One of the favorite lunch items in our house is the ham salad / sandwich spread from the deli department. After my mom took a brief part-time job at a local grocery store deli and learned how the sandwich spread are made. I had to come up with a recipe so that I could make my own and know what went in it--and how old the ingredients were.

I found this recipe in a flyer from Land o' Lakes. This is a rich buttery spritz recipe which produces a very manageable amount of dough. I lost the flyer for a couple of years, then came across it again, so I am adding it here for safe keeping. It is not the same as the one on Land O' Lakes site.

    From BH&G Christmas Cookies 2007.

    Recipe #264861

A friend requested a carrot cake for his wife's birth day. I was so nervous, as I am known for my cakes, but I had never made one. I found this recipe in a cookbook that my MIL's church had put together as a missions fund raiser. It was such a hit, that I have made it for the same couple repeatedly and we enjoy it on special occasions with our family as well.

This recipe produces an amazingly tender and flavorful beef brisket. The original recipe was given to me by a butcher at a meat market, but it has evolved over the years.

I never thought I could make a better sugar cookie that the ones that came out of the Pillsbury Dough Boy's tube. I was so wrong! I found this recipe in my Taste of Home Best of Country Cookies book. Only butter for this recipe, no substitutes.

I have had these delicious cookies as a part of my Christmas cookie trays since 2003. They are well loved. I have sometimes skipped the chocolate drizzle when time was short.

    Recipe #263730

A chocolate mint cookie, rolled in powdered sugar that crackles as it bakes. A well received part of my past cookie trays. The original recipe called for mint flavoring, I have found the extract gives a much better flavor. If you really love mint, and can find mint flavored chocolate chips use those instead of semi-sweet.
