Fast and easy, as no precooking of macaroni is required. Lower fat items and no salt added make this dish somewhat better than others for those watching fat/sodium intake. Regular or low fat, the choice is yours. Kids seem to like this one. It's good served with a green vegetable such as broccoli. Salt & pepper to taste if desired.

    Recipe #518819

Easy to make pesto, to use on any variety of pasta you choose. No cooking required, cook time is prep time.

    Recipe #518752

This comes from a cook book titled Trader Joe's Favorite Sunset Recipes. Recipe calls for chopped ripe olives, sliced are fine. I have substituted pepper jack cheese for part of the cheddar cheese. Recipe doesn't state, but dress this up a bit and serve garnished with sour cream or guacamole.

    Recipe #518751

A cool and easy warm weather treat to make. To cut calories use sugar free Jell-O. I use the pineapple that's packed in it's own juice. Diet soft drink may be used or even lemon lime flavored seltzer water. Cook time is chill time.

    Recipe #517184

A frozen ice cream cake you make at home ! Use any flavor of cake mix and ice cream or sherbet you desire. White cake and raspberry sherbet....chocolate cake with mint chip ice cream. What about spice cake and rum raisin ice cream ? You get the idea. Prep time is time for mixing and baking cake. Cook time is freezer time after cake is baked and cooled. This is an easy make ahead dessert for any occasion.

Easy to make with ingredients most cooks have on hand. We like this on romaine lettuce with sliced garden tomatoes. Adjust mayo base amount substituting a little sour cream if desired. If dressing seems too thick, thin with a little milk or cream

    Recipe #506131

Avocado, cheese and veggie filled pita pockets, no cooking required ! Prepare this recipe as is, or you can substitute any cheese or raw veggie combination you happen to have. Original recipe came from the Los Angeles Times. I sometimes add green or black olives to the mixture and dress with homemade creamy garlic dressing in place of the bottled Italian.

    Recipe #506130

A frozen pie that's fun to serve at holiday time instead of the usual pumpkin pie offerings. It's that much better if you use a "higher end" ice cream brand. For those watching fat, low fat ice creams may be used.

    Recipe #505435

Easy to assemble quick bread that's much less expensive to make than those mixes we buy at home parties. This one doesn't rise too high but it's hearty and great to serve with soup and salad meals. Recipe doesn't state, but I use beer that's at room temp.

A good way to use up some of those Summer "zukes" that seem to multiply. This has assorted veggies and great fresh herb flavors. Great for potlucks...it's not the usual vegetable side dish. Cheese amounts may be adjusted for those watching fat intake. I have used grated provolone and also smoked gouda in place of mozzarella topping.

This recipe is for Chicken Salad as was served at Willow's at The Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, AZ. My clipped recipe from Omaha World Herald dates to 1990. The salad is different with dates, nuts and jicama, in a lime-mayo dressing. It's a very good warm weather dish. Cook and prep times do not include chill time.

    Recipe #504257

Nice recipe for gift giving at holiday time. You can substitute orange rind in place of lemon rind. Walnuts and Pecans are a nice mixture to use for the nut meats. This recipe originally came from a Clabber Girl advertisement in a 1950's era magazine.

    Recipe #504191

An easy way to duplicate the salad dressing served at Olive Garden. Toss this with a mixture of Spinach leaves & Romaine and Iceberg lettuce. Black Olives and Croutons may be added to the salad greens.

    Recipe #500334

An easy "fried like" potato recipe that's easy to assemble and doesn't soak up loads of cooking oil. Reminds me of old-style fried potatoes and onions. If you like cheddar cheese, shredded cheese may be added to the layering process. This will get a little crisp around the edges. If you don't care for crispy, cut back on cooking time checking with a fork to see if paotatoes are tender.

    Recipe #498116

A traditional New Year's Day dish... legend has it that eating Black Eyed Peas on New Years Day brings good luck. After reviewing several cookbook recipes full of salt and fat I came up with a somewhat healthier version by cutting back on amount of sausage and using liquid smoke to "fool the tastebuds" Ground Chicken or Turkey Sausage will work as well. Seasonings can all be adjusted to personal preference. Place in covered skillet and simmer on low until heated through and spices lend their flavor to the dish. I have put this in a crock pot to heat and serve later. Serves 2 really hearty appetites or 4 smaller portions.

    Recipe #492333

The Kraft Foods recipe, that when originally shown as a televised commercial caused a canned Clam shortage. Taken from 1963 Kraft Treasury of Good Food Ideas Cookbook Great dip for your retro themed cocktail parties, or New Years Eve. Serve with potato chips or corn chips. I like to use 2 cans of Clams when making this recipe. Prep time does not allow for bringing Cream Cheese to room temp to soften.

    Recipe #492308

I found this recipe in a Skinner Macaroni cookbook. It's a nice recipe for those of you who don't want a mayonnaise based recipe. The cottage cheese gives it a new twist, tho the recipe dates from the 60's.A little chopped red pepper is a nice addition. Great for a summer lunch or picnic, it's also good served along with cold boiled shrimp. I've included the original salt amount. A much smaller amount will do if you watch sodium intake.Cook time includes time for chilling.

    Recipe #436154

A hearty chili type dish that's a meal in a dish. This will feed two hungry adults as is, or you can adjust the amounts and make enough for a crew ! Put it in a slow cooker and let it simmer on low for several hours. If you aren't counting calories or fat, serve with Sour Cream, shredded Cheddar Cheese, or even a dollop of Guacamole. I add the hominy later so it doesn't get mushy. This is similar to chili, you can add what you like, or spice it up if you like things hot. Try adding a can of Rotel to below recipe.

This recipe comes from Knorr Soup Recipes. Makes a great brunch dish when served with fresh mixed fruits. If you can't find Knorr Spring Vegetable flavor recipe mix you may use Knorr Vegetable soup & recipe mix.For those who like a little more cheese, you may add an additional 1/2 cup shredded Swiss Cheese Prep time is the time it takes to mix up recipe. It DOES NOT allow for Spinach Thaw time

    Recipe #343309

An easy aspic to stir together. Great on a warm summer day with a seafood salad or grilled entree. This recipe came from a friend's Mother. Add anything additional in the way of minced vegetables that you like.I sometimes add grated onion, or Dill pickle juice instead of sweet pickle juice. If you count calories this can be made with Sugar Free Jell-O The recipe calls for Hunt's brand tomatoe sauce (there is a difference) Cook time is chill time Enjoy !
