    This recipe was given to me quite some time ago by a friend of the family. My husband is not a big cookie lover, but he loved these, so I requested the recipe. Shortening can be substituted for butter for a crispier cookie.

    A friend of mine gave me a bunch of oatmeal. I have a large family, so the recipe makes a lot, but it can easily be reduced for smaller sizes. After searching for recipes and a bit of tweaking, this is what I came up with. The end result is pretty hearty, so if you want a "gooey" oatmeal, I would reduce the amount of oats used. You can play with the liquid amounts a bit so long as the measurements remain the same. The flavor from the evaporated milk is key. Half and half can be substituted for double milk.

    I have looked through a lot a clam recipies. I finally came up with this recipe by combining the most frequent ingredients I saw listed with a couple of my own additions. The end result is a sauce so light it can't really be called a sauce. But it is so incredibly flavorful!

    I love, love, love this recipe. I have no idea where it came from. I add quite a bit more Khalua to mine. I also like to use a large scoop for the dough and make coffee house size cookies.     This was made for me once and I mimiced what I remembered of it. You could add fresh vegetables or a breakfast meat if preferred. Fairly quick to prepare, but will taste like you worked very hard on it. We love this for brunch over the holidays.
