These cucumbers will be ready to eat within 24 hours but do get more flavourful if allowed to sit longer. Because they do not need a water bath, they are easy to prepare but they must be stored in the refrigerator. They can be kept up to a month

    Recipe #217185

I got this rub from August's Bon Appetit magazine. I used it on Beer Can chicken and spareribs. Both came out really tasty. This is a "bold, in-your-face rub"

    Recipe #505773

This is an excellent hair treatment that you could do once a month. Cut the recipe in half for shorter hair

    Recipe #319574

I found this cocktail recipe in the Food & Drink Magazine that is distributed by the Ontario liquor stores. As I always have maple syrup and ice wine on hand, I will be trying this one soon. The name alone appealed to me!!!

    Recipe #307227

I wanted to make antipasto without having gazillions amount of jars, so I adapted this recipe from a number of sources. From start to finish (and even cleaning up the kitchen!!) this took me 2-1/4 hours

    Recipe #248770

I have tried different pancake recipes on this site, but I still come back to my all time favorite. I have adapted this recipe to suit our taste. It's a breeze to put together, using minimal utensils. I use a non-stick griddle, but if you are using a frying pan, you may want to use a little Pam or butter to prevent sticking

    Recipe #412752

I got creative one day and came up a marinade with all my favorite ingredients in it. This would be ideal for chicken or seafood.

    Recipe #367742

This salad dressing has survived the times and has been passed around to many people. It was a Bon Appetit original, but I have changed it so drastically that I can now claim it my own creation!! I am very particular about my Caesar salads...the lettuce can't sit in the dressing too long and get soggy.....the lettuce has to be well washed and dried...it has to have enough dressing to coat the lettuce, but not simming in sauce...lettuce torn in "bite size pieces", not so big that you have to use a knife and fork to get it into your mouth!!! These crutons are devine! Make enough so that you have enough for sticky fingers who keep finching the finished product.

    Recipe #419555

I love pepper and I tend to use alot in my cooking!!!! My girlfriend found this gourmet pepper blend and payed big $ for it!! I went home and got inspired and came up with this blend, using my Magic Bullet to grind the spices. I found the perfect "salt and pepper pig" to hold my blend, so when cooking, one good pinch of pepper equals about 1/4 tsp. I feel cool like Emeril..throwing my salt and pepper into the dish...(only I don't use as much salt as he does!!! lol!!)

    Recipe #417225

These double baked potatoes are exceptional! Cooked in the microwave, then finished off on the bbq... these potatoes are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Adding the sour cream will definately raise the calories, but they are, oh so worth it!!! These are my DH favorite potatoes!!

    Recipe #386598

This salad is visually a beautiful dish. Each bite bursts a different texture.... sweet from the mango and dried blueberries, crunch from the salad, tomatoes and nuts or smooth from the avocado. I served this to a friend for a luncheon and I was so impressed that I served it again to my DD that night. She said that it has become one of her top 10 favorite salads. Unless you like your salads swimming in dressing, this dressing is so flavourful that you don't need alot to go around. I served this with my recipe #269324 and Mirj's Recipe #24593

    Recipe #366306

I originally got this recipe from the Looneyspoon series but have adapted it to suit my taste. Here is my version of a thick, very satisfying chilli. I sometimes cook up some chicken breast and add it to the mix. The spices are a guideline...they can be increased or decreased according to taste. I tend to very liberal with the spices.

    Recipe #217059

I have been using this recipe from the Best of Bridge series for many years. With a pecan chocolate wafer crust, creamy chocolate mousse filling, this frozen dessert is perfect for those easy, casual entertaining. This recipe could be cut in half and placed in 2 smaller springform pans. The recipe needs freezer time, so give yourself enough time to play

    Recipe #369262

Wonderful on all types of meat and fish.

    Recipe #465703

Fancy name for sourdough pancakes! I made these for family who were visiting and they could not stop raving about how good these were. The batter is made up the night before, so there is minimal fuss in the morning.

    Recipe #180752

The reason for homemade toothpaste is to get away from all the harmful additives and preservatives that are generally added to regular toothpaste. Sodium Laurel Sulphite is a sudsing agent used in any product that "bubbles" eg: soap, shampoo, toothpaste, bubble bath, laundry soap, and I have seen it in some foods ( I am not sure why this would be added....is it to de-grease your insides??). This sudsing agent, in its pure form can actually burn the skin and the commercial use is to de-grease airplanes This is usually the second ingredient in most sudsing products. People who have sensitive or dry skin that is constantly irritated may not be aware of this product. If you are having problems finding the Myrrh Gum Powder, leave this out and add 30 drops of pure Tea Tree Oil, leaving the Peppermint out. (Please realize the computer could not recognize this) Watch the grade of the eso you buy....you do want Pure Tea Tree Oil for this application. Some of the cheaper brands are diluted with Jojoba Oil, but this will be printed on the bottle. This toothpaste does take some getting use to, but in the long run your teeth and mouth are going to thank you. Since I have been using this paste my teeth are clean and white, the plaque is down, I do not get mouth ulcers, my breath is clean, my colds are down and my general health has improved. Can't ask for anything better than that!

    Recipe #316532

I have particularly sensitive skin and I have to be very careful what I put on my skin. I make my own soaps, lotions and bath stuff, so this goes to show what extent I have to go to get "normal" skin. This toner started out for being just used on the face, but quickly became an all purpose body toner. I find that I can use just the toner and not have to use any face cream afterwards (and that has never been an option for me before) We were recently in Hawaii and I would use this if I got too much sun (which was every day!!) and I am prone to sand fly bites. With other homopathic pills that I was taking, this definately helped cut down the amount of fly bites I got. I recently had a bad cold and the toner helped with my poor helpless nose. The toner can be used for after shaving the arm, leg and bikini areas to close the pores and helps prevent rasor burn. It can work as an antiseptic on cuts or open sores...it will just sting a bit. I just love it when something "works"....especially for me!!

    Recipe #360779

Sometimes the easiest remedies are at home! Aloe Vera Gel is very healing to the skin

    Recipe #319579

I found this recipe in the new Best of Bridge - Bravo!

    Recipe #419208

Using a bread machine, this makes a large batch of dough that sits in your fridge until needed. Just pinch off some dough, shape into buns and bake. Want 6 buns or 20.... it is simple, easy and definately good! The dough will last for 2 - 3 weeks in the fridge. I got this recipe off the Internet
