    Cauliflower White Cheddar Soup
    Handle

I received a pamphlet from Kitchen Basics Stock called Healthy Cooking with Stock at the Taste of Home Cooking School recently. I hope to try this recipe soon as the weather gets cooler. DH loves cauliflower and white cheddar, so it seems like it will be a hit. Let me know how you like it if you try it before me!

    Recipe #439100

    Select
    Coffee Cup Scramble
    Handle

I got this at the Taste of Home Cooking School on a card from the American Egg Board. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks quick and easy.

    Recipe #439095

    Select
    Muffin Frittatas
    Handle

I got this on a card at the Taste of Home Cooking School. It's from the American Egg Board and I'm putting it here for safekeeping. The card says that you can bake these and refrigerate and rewarm in the microwave to an internal temperature of 165F.

    Recipe #439092

    Select
    Trisha Yearwood's Broccoli Salad
    Handle

This is from Trisha Yearwood's 1st cookbook, Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen that she wrote with her mom and sister. This is my husband's favorite broccoli salad. Trisha says "This is great served with barbecued pork ribs or prepared to take to a covered dish supper, because it's sturdy enough to stand at room temperature for a while without wilting. It also adds great color to a picnic spread." I've entered it as written, but we like to use red onion and golden raisins. Preparation time includes chilling time.

    Recipe #435188

    Select
    Macaroni and Cheese
    Handle

I don't know where I got this recipe, but I've had it for years and we always enjoy it. The onion, sharp cheddar and Worcestershire sauce gives this a nice bite. I often use 2% sharp cheddar cheese and skim milk and the taste doesn't suffer, so feel free to use the lighter options if you would like to. Also, the original recipe says to use grated onion, but I don't ever go to this much trouble opting instead to just use my food processor to chop them finely. I often add ham and/or vegetables to make a one dish supper.

    Recipe #431608

    Select
    Easy and Light Horseradish Sauce
    Handle

I got this a while ago from a Light and Tasty magazine and it quickly became a favorite. We have it a lot over cauliflower or broccoli but it would be good over roasted meats as well.

    Recipe #414985

    Select
    Spinach and Rice Casserole
    Handle

I cut this out of either a copy of Light and Tasty or Simple and Delicious years ago. We enjoy this with simple roasted meat, but I can eat it on its own as a main dish.

    Recipe #414724

    Select
    Spicy Cuban Chicken
    Handle

I got this from a friend at church; I haven't made it yet, but she brought it to a potluck and it was so yummy I had to ask for the recipe. It is credited to The Bean Education & Awareness Network. Prep time includes marinating time. ****update**** I messed up the marinating once I finally made this and left out the garlic and red pepper in the marinade. Instead I put the garlic in while sauteing the chicken and put in the red pepper with all the other spices. This made it pretty spicy, but good!

    Recipe #393506

    Select
    Pumpkin Cupcakes Cake
    Handle

I needed something cute for our fall festival cakewalk at church this weekend and I found this recipe in the Better Homes and Gardens publication "Halloween tricks & treats". It was really easy; the hardest part was picking the orange and black M&M's out of the M&M's GHOUL'S Milk Chocolate Mix. If you live in a bigger city or can order online, you can probably order just orange and black ones to make this easier yet!

    Recipe #392974

    Select
    Pizza Dough
    Handle

From the "Mom and Me Cookbook" by Annabel Karmel that I sent to my swap partner **Mandy**, actually her daughter!, for the 2009 Cookbook Swap. Feb 27 2010----Thanks to Hokies for finding my typo! Definitely should mix the yeast with water!!

    Recipe #388302

    Select
White Lily Chocolate Dipped Peanut Butter Cookies
    Handle

DH and I went to the Southern Women's Show in Raleigh back and April and saw a presentation on cookies by the White Lily Flour company. The cookies were really good and I wanted to save the recipes for safekeeping. I haven't made these myself yet, so let me know how they are if you make them before me!

    Recipe #384109

    Select
    Ronnie's Cabbage Soup
    Handle

Ronnie's was a great Jewish type deli restaurant on Highway 50 on the east side of Orlando. I have fond memories of it from the early 80's on. Sometime in the 90's, I think, it closed. They used to have stainless bowls on the tables with pickles, sauerkraut, pickled beets, etc. I don't live in the Orlando area any more, but my mom does and she cut this recipe out of the Orlando Sentinel for me from a column they have called "Thought You'd Never Ask" where they get recipes from local restaurants. I haven't made this myself yet, but I thought I'd put it here for safekeeping. I will also add this Test Kitchen note: "We used only 1/2 cup sugar preparing this recipe. That amount could even be cut back to 2 tablespoons."

    Recipe #384076

    Select
    Tressa's Spicy Jambalaya
    Handle

When I got married, one of my showers was one where each guest brought a recipe for me. This one is from my best friend and we enjoy it often.

    Recipe #377439

    Select
George and Pat's Three Bean Salad
    Handle

I got this recipe years ago from good friends of mine. I tweaked it a bit for my tastes. Cooking time is chilling time.

    Recipe #377403

    Select
    Mrs Bice's Asparagus Casserole
    Handle

Mrs. Bice was a member of my grandparent's church when I was growing up. I remember this casserole from the funeral lunches the UMW would prepare for the family before or after the service. Mrs. Bice's original recipe calls for 3 cans of asparagus spears, but I prefer fresh or high quality frozen cooked. You need enough to cover the bottom of your pan completely. Asparagus lovers like me say "the more the better!" This was always served as a side dish, but I often make it as a meatless main dish.

    Recipe #360318

    Select
    Crock Pot Beef Stew
    Handle

This recipe is from my mom's booklet that came with her Crock Pot from the 70's (the cover has the newest, latest Crock Pots in browns and greens!) I've been staying with her and I made this stew for us tonight. It made me remember how much I enjoyed it growing up. Nothing fancy, but good, thick, tasty stew. Good comfort food!

    Recipe #360278

    Select
    Chicken Wild Rice Soup
    Handle

I got this from a Quick Cooking magazine and it has become a favorite. If you have leftovers, you may need to add additional water when reheating because it gets pretty thick after it is refrigerated. 3/5/10--I went back and looked at my original recipe. I tweaked this by upping the veggies, and I probably use more chicken as Hokies suggested. I usually am pretty sloppy with my measurements on this one, so feel free to add more than the one cup!

    Recipe #359951

    Select
    Publix Chunky Chicken Salad
    Handle

I got this a long time ago from the Publix Mayonnaise label. I think it is the same one they used to have in the deli there. This is great to take for potlucks, new moms, or grieving familes. I often double it. This is more of a salad to eat on a bed of greens and not so much to put onto a sandwich although I have put it into a pita before. Preparation time does not include cooking the chicken or carrots. Cooking time is the chilling time.

    Recipe #359948

    Select
    Martha Lindley's Chicken Pie
    Handle

This recipe is a favorite in our church where Mrs. Lindley was a member years ago. This is the recipe our UMW group uses when we make dinner for the local Ruritan Club as a fundraiser. The original recipe is without vegetables, but my husband and I prefer it with some vegetables added. You can cook the chicken in any way you prefer, but I use the method in Recipe #18832 , Shir-Will Chicken Delight. (Thanks Uncle Bill!). Preparation time does not include cooking of chicken.

    Recipe #349059

    Select
    Super Easy Lemon Pie
    Handle

I don't remember where I got this recipe, but it is my husband's favorite summertime pie. Using reduced fat or fat free items makes this a tasty but low calorie dessert. Cooking time is time to freeze.
