Why spend all that extra money on Myoplex, MetRx, or any other pre-packaged powder? All of them contain inferior carb (maltadextren) and protein sources anyway. This one is fast, versitile, and much better for you.
Why pay the extra money for those so called energy/protein bars you find at the store? most contain sugar alcohols and other stuff that is not very good for you. These are quick, easy, and much more healthy!
I am making this for our family holiday celebration pot luck this year. I cut the sausages into 1" bite size pieces and the peppers and onions into 2"x 1/2" slices to make it easy to eat with a fork! you can use any of your favorite sausages and/or peppers you choose!

This recipe combines the best advice of the experts: brining for moist, juicy chicken; marinating in buttermilk for tenderness; seasoned flour for a crisp crust; and a little bacon grease mixed into the frying fat to add savory flavor. The brining and marinating mean you'll have to think ahead--start this recipe at lunchtime the day you'll set it on the table. Remember that the side you start frying a piece on will always look better than the other side.
Just like the state fair or renaissance festival! Make these for now, or heat them up later. you can use a gas, electric, or charcoal Smoker, or a conventional grill if you use indirect heat.
You can actually use this same recipe for a 12-15 lb whole turkey or chicken as well, just keep it in the smoker for a full 12 hrs.
