A basic New England pot roast that was a traditional Sunday meal when I was kid. Mom always served this with warm, cinnamon-spiced applesauce and either Parker House rolls or Pillsbury's Butterflake Dinner Rolls (since discontinued - but the Grands Flaky Layers Original Biscuits are similar). The leftover meat, on buttered bread and lightly salted, made for a delicious sandwich in our brown bag school lunches the following Monday or Tuesday. I've scaled the recipe back a bit from the quantities my mom used as she was cooking for a family of six, with intentional leftovers. This recipe should feed a family of four (assuming health-conscious serving sizes) with some leftovers.

Homemade cinnamon baking chips for use in scones, etc. Produces a non-waxy chip (not like chocolate chips). A customized recipe built from others found on the web and in old cookbooks.

A delicious and healthier alternative to cream of potato and leek soup.

I used to love the boxed side dish "Noodle Roni Parmesano." I hadn't seen it in store shelves for quite some time, so I played around until I came up with something close to it. As it is just me and my DS at home these days, I intentionally developed the recipe as a side dish for two (or a main course for one!) Although I haven't tried it, I would imagine the recipe would double easily enough.

A quick and easy casserole, this pasta bake is a meal that is full-flavored, easy on the budget, and goes a long way. Perfect for when the kids invite friends for dinner at the last minute! Great with a salad and some fresh italian bread. Don't be fooled by the small quantities - it makes a ton! It's just me and my DS these days and this makes enough for several meals!

Back in the late 60's and early 70's, Betty Crocker sold a boxed noodles romanoff that I absolutely loved! When they quit making it, I set about the task of duplicating the recipe. I remember my mom telling me as a kid that the BC version was full of sour cream and garlic. With that memory as my guide, and after many tries, I came up with a blend that I thought tasted the closest and have been using it ever since. Before posting, I reviewed the existing noodles romanoff recipes on 'zaar and didn't see one quite like mine, but I did see that many others also loved the Betty Crocker version. I hope this lives up to their memory as much as it did to mine.
