My mother recommended I post this recipe as she remembers it from her childhood. I asked her if it had a frosting to go with it and she said it never lasted long enough to be frosted. So enjoy it plain or use your choice of frosting.
My mom made these when I was growing up by just throwing everything into a bowl with no measuring. We liked them so much that we all needed the recipe so after several tries this is her recipe and they are great. Very delicate biscuit, do not roll with rolling pin just flour board and use hands to press dough out about 1 inch thick and then cut .
This is my favorite quick bread. The recipe was passed on to our family from a neighbor when I was a child. This is the only recipe that I have ever used and I always get rave reviews. If you don't like dates or nuts they can be omitted but I think that is what makes the bread so good. The dates will cook up and most people don't even know they are in there. Great for the holidays.
These are great for OAMC. Take these out of freezer and use them to make a white sauce or a cheese sauce.. You can add anything you would like to your basic cheese sauce and you can have a quick dinner in just minutes. I use more salt but that is a personal preference so be sure to taste your sauce and adjust salt to your taste.
OOOh My God!!! How decadent can we get with all this ooey gooey goodness. If you can find flavored marshmallow they work great too. Also try with different flavored chips or finely chopped candy bars. I had better stop I'm gaining weight just thinking about this.
These are moist drop cookies that you can add any of your favorite ingredients to. Chocolate, butterscotch, or peanut butter chips, nuts, candied fruit, or chopped candy bars all taste delicious. You are only limited by your imagination. Be creative and enjoy.
This is my moms recipe, i don't really know where she got it but I have always liked it. I find that I can substitute low fat evaporated milk and low-fat cottage cheese and use sugar free Jello and sugar free pineapple to make this fit into my diabetic diet plan better.
This recipe was passed on to me by my mother from her father. It is old-fashioned corn bread that is baked in a 9 x 13 pan. We always served this with Chili when I was a child and I still do today. Just be sure to mix it with a spoon, NO ELECTRIC MIXERS.
I got this recipe from my Aunt, who was a terrific cook. She raised 11 kids and did catering at her church and for weddings. she has passed on many favorite recipes to my family but this is one that no matter where I take it everybody loves it. The cake is very moist and the topping is totally different from the traditional creme cheese frosting most people use. Feel free to use creme cheese frosting (I do sometimes)but give the magic topping a whirl I don't think you will be disappointed.
