I found a recipe similar to this in one of Claudia Roden's books and then gave it my own twist. This is a deliciously fragrant dessert, best served with a dollop of very thick cream or the best available icecream!
Ras el Hanout is a Moroccan spice mix which I buy from Herbies in Sydney, or you can blend it yourself.
This is a lovely, rich white bread dough that kids love! It can be used to make rolls, cinnamon rolls or bread. I usually cut the sugar down a little. Listen to machine when it begins to knead and adjust water if necessary.
This is a Donna Hay recipe that I found on our local ABC radio website. I want to try it out so it is here for safekeeping!
I would probably cook it at a slightly lower temp & for a little longer than it says here.
I made this one up one day after looking at a couple of similar recipes. We just love this with cold meat and on sandwiches. It is like caramelised onions, only better! A food processor is really handy for this recipe.
I have used this recipe for years, but I cannot remember where I got it from! It makes a very fudgy brownie.
I have found substituting the sugar for 1/2 castor sugar and 1/2 brown sugar makes an even better brownie!!
