My recipe source is the Turbana Corp. As written, the recipe calls for fruit cocktail ... BUT I like to use fresh fruit (when in season), buy a sml jar of cherries to garnish & only use fruit cocktail as a last resort. This dish works well as part of a brunch menu, luncheon dish or dessert & can be paired w/a cookie or sml serving of pound cake when used as a dessert. Enjoy!
I haven't made this yet, but it sounds like the perfect beverage (for kids & adults) on those hot summer days & warm nites spent w/family or friends on your patio, at poolside or on a picnic. My source here is the Cherry Marketing Institute. Stated time does not include refrigeration time. Enjoy!
This is yet another recipe I haven't tried, but the name, ingredients & prep grabbed my attention. I would never have thot to combine popcorn & ice cream in a dessert, but it seemed to me that adults & kids alike would really go for this treat. Times have been estimated, but the prep & freezing time will require you to plan ahead. My source here is the Popcorn Institute. Enjoy!
This is a great sandwich & about the best way I know to use leftover grilled chicken & roasted peppers, so plan ahead for it + marinating the mushrooms. My source is the Wildflower Bread Co in Scottsdale, AZ. Stated times do not include the original prep/cooking of the chicken & peppers or the refrigerated marination of the mushrooms. Enjoy! .. *Edited to Add* -- This recipe was included for Greece in ZWT6 due to its strong Mediterranean influence + the use of feta cheese & pesto. :-)
This sandwich is tasty, healthy, packed w/flavour & crunch & ideal for an elegant light lunch or even a picnic since the egg salad & slaw mixtures are prepared in advance & the sandwiches easy to assemble. My source was the California Egg Commission, but I did amend the recipe slightly, the quantities to allow for fewer servings & the prep to make it clearer. Stated times do not include hard-boiling the eggs or refrigeration time.
Try this tasty way to "dressup" ordinary mashed potatoes & add flavour zip to what you see as a plain meal. It was suggested as a side-dish by the National Pork Producers Council & I esp like it w/skillet browned smoked pork chops. Enjoy!
After the resounding success of Kate's Afternoon Wine Cooler, I decided to enter another w/only a slight variation ... but packed w/the rich, tropical flavor of pineapple. This 1 is truly Chef Kate recipe inspired. After having made her Natilla De Pina (Pineapple Custard) Recipe #170308 for the 2nd time at DH's request, I used my excess pineapple juice for this new effort & now I'm really hooked on both of them. Enjoy!
Finally Captain Kate! Here I am w/your belated birthday present. This is a little something light I've found refreshing in the afternoon when I'm busy doing my ZWT cooking! It's tasty, goes down really fast & smooth & doesn't cloud your mind when you're measuring ingredients either!
This recipe was entered for ZWT & has been modified slightly. My source is: http://africhef.com/Chutney-Recipe.html. The intro is short & sweet ... "This easy South African Fruit Chutney recipe is 1 of the simplest I've come across & is well worth the slight effort taken to prepare it." (Yield & times have been estimated. Times do not include standing overnight or waiting period to mature)
My sister again & this time with what she describes as "the best dish I make". I've luckily eaten a lot of her oriental dishes. If she says this is the best she makes, then take it to the bank! As with the past 3, her source is her "Wei-Chuan Cookbook" by Huang Su Huei.
My sister, Kathy, gained her Asian cooking expertise 1st-hand when she, her DH & her in-laws lived in Taiwan for a time. This is the 1st of several recipes she considers her favorites. Her source for this so tasty & easy to fix soup was "Wei-Chuan Cookbook" by Huang Su Huei.
This recipe has been entered for ZWT II. It was found on the net courtesy of The Straits Cafe at straitscafe.com. The intro was brief & said "Use as a seafood dip or as a tasty sauce for wraps." Somehow the thot of a lettuce wrap w/stir-fried chicken & this sauce captured my imagination. This is so easy & fast to make & can be made well-ahead of planned use.
This recipe has been entered for ZWT II & was found on the net courtesy of The Straits Cafe at: straitscafe.com. Per the intro ... "Tofu for dessert? Well, you've never had a treat like this!" I don't know how a recipe could be any easier than this, but plan ahead as this needs to chill overnight. The 5 min prep time of course doesn't include the chilling time. :-)
This recipe has been entered for ZWT II & was found on the net courtesy of The Straits Cafe at: straitscafe.com. It is so easy to prepare & the name kinda says it all, doesn't it? Times have been estimated.
