This is a thick, creamy soup that uses NO heavy cream. I have been losing weight and did not want to add the calories of heavy cream today, so I modified my already simple soup - this is my recipe, create in 2007.
Since the kids are not counting calories, I topped this with a dab of sour cream and sprinkled the top with some extra shredded cheese, both kinds, and some of the crispy fried bacon... I topped mine with some fresh chopped chives... I serve it with crusty garlic bread but maybe you'd like bacon sandwiches or grilled cheese.

I have really americanized my traditional recipe over the years, and everyone loves them so much better than the real version, so I decided I would post it, so friends and family can use it too. Remeber to rol this his, about he width and size of your finger... larger ones are not as appealing as the nice small tighly rolled leaves.
With St. Patricks Day just passing I thought I'd share this old corned beef hash recipe. It was my mom's and it is plain and easy, but is so good the next day with fried eggs on top and rye bread toast! I know people add stuff to hash, but this simple hash is always good.
This is authentic tasting! I originally found this recipe in a box of stuff to be discarded after my mother passed away, It caught my eye because it uses ingredients that I was familiar with. The recipe seems long, but once u begin tp prepare it u will realize it isn't very time consuming to make, and everyone will be impressed with your culinary prowess. I serve this with egg noodles, but have also used the little packages of ramen noodles (just save the seasoning packet for something else) and white rice is also good.
This is such a good recipe, and it it simple, and I bet you've got everything u need right in your pantry! Served with rice and some stir fried veggies this is a good chinese meal. My family requests this at least twice a month. I do occasionally vary the ingerdients by adding powder ginger, or a little lime juice and five star spice.
Crab Salad Louis, a San Francisco classic, makes an elegant first course or luncheon entree. Use frozen lump crab meat for the fanciest presentation or canned flaked crab meat for a more economical version. If you have leftovers, mix them all together, and keep in the frige. the next day, after all the flavors combine and mingle, it is fabulous, but not as attractive. This is a great summer dish!
