I am just beginning this journey but so far am having fun with it. I found this recipe on blog. Here is the link http://glutenfree.wordpress.com/2007/07/18/gf-wrap-sandwich-success/. I didn't follow hers exactly because I substituted regular yeast for the instant she used. I also didn't have Olive oil so used canola. I am going to post what I did. It was quick and tasted pretty good. The kids gobbled it up which was the most important part. :)
This is very similar to rice pudding. We eat it as a meal topped with cinnamon and sugar, and accompaned by canned fruit and applesauce. I love madarine oranges and dh likes pears. This is great on those cold winter days, esp when it is rainy out. Got this recipe from my MIL who is originally from Bavaria, Germany.
My MIL makes great stuffed peppers and mine always seemed bland. She told me her trick was to use all ketchup instead of tomato sauce. So I just modified my recipe to use ketchup and they are great. Sounds like a lot of ketchup but these are so good. I always get asked for the recipe and then scare them with the amount of ketchup in it. These are one of my husband's favorite meals. :) I usually just make a salad to accompany the peppers.
This is very quick and easy to make. Kids love the "muffins". Also great for any of those anti-onion people in your home. You can make it with ground turkey to make it really healthy. I actually have a pan I drilled holes in to let the fat and grease drain out while cooking. We make these often. I got this recipe from a friend who was doing Weight Watchers at the time. Oh, and I half this recipe all the time. If I feel like loafs I just form those and bake a bit longer.
Not sure exactly where I found this but I do know it was a personal blog online. I modified the original recipe just a little and think these are the BEST! They let just enough of the buttermilk flavor through and are super moist without falling apart. I use these for tomato sauce, sweet and sour, and Swedish meatballs.
German Farmer Bread similar to what is found in when purchasing Bauernbrot in a Bavarian bakery in Germany.
Great with butter and cold cuts, or just plain butter. My sons' favorite is with salami and aged "Moon Cheese".
