Cute football themed snacks for your next football party! Since I was making mostly adult desserts for our last college ball game, I altered my Recipe #286286 to make chocolate-flavored, football Krispie treats for the kids. They were a big hit, with kids and adults! My cupcake carrier with the flat bottomed insert only held 15 treats so that's where I stopped counting. Because of that, I guessed here on the total yield. If you try this recipe please feel free to correct me, if needed. :)

    Recipe #439786

I had a bunch of fresh blueberries, lemons, buttermilk & white chocolate chips to use up after the Scandinavian leg of the Zaar World Tour #6. This morning I was making a Greek breakfast wrap for Zingo that would use up Kalamata olives & feta cheese, but I wasn't sure my family was going to like it, so I created this moist & delicious quick bread to "sweeten the deal". ;) Incidentally, they ended up enjoying both the Greek wraps & the bread! :D

    Recipe #431106

I don't know if this is exactly how gramma made her potato pancakes, as I never got the actual recipe. But I remember grating onion for hers so this is a hybrid of my memory and a basic version from Scandinavia.com. I think a major component missing in the online recipe was baking powder. Also, this can be started the night before by grating the potatoes and then covering them with cold water and refrigerating overnight.

    Recipe #427612

The Swedish mashed potatoes took a bit of getting used to for me. I love nutmeg in my apple pies and other sweets, but it's not a flavor I expect in my mashed potatoes. Of course I always ate them the way my first husband's Norwegian gramma made them, but when I make them myself I use just enough to add a hint of flavor. After all, without the nutmeg they're just plain mashed potatoes. ;)

    Recipe #427605

When I was a teen my first husband's Norwegian grandparents taught me to make this thin, potato pancake. The recipe is delicious, of course, but the most wonderful thing about it was their tradition of making it as a family. Over 20 years later, I'm still using Gramma's handwritten card, but am finally posting this dear to my heart recipe for ZWT-6. The mashed potatoes must be completely cold before adding the flour or else the mixture turns to paste, so I like to make them the night before & refrigerate overnight. The lefse rolling pin, with it's deep, checkerboard grooves and the lefse turner are traditional tools, but the pancakes can easily be made with a regular pin and spatula.

    Recipe #427471

This original recipe was created for the ZWT6 Mixing Pot Challenge, hosted by the Fish & Seafood Forum. Team X-tra Hot Dishes has lived up to it's name and just like the influential flavors of North Africa, we are spicy and energetic with a balance of zesty sweetness mixed in. This easy, yet bold-flavored rub for salmon shows off some of our best qualities!

    Recipe #426915

Found this recipe on Tammy's Blog (http://www.tammysrecipes.com/homemade_vanilla_extract) and couldn't resist trying it. I made 3 batches; one with vodka, one with gluten-free vodka and one with bourbon. It'll be 6 months before they're totally mature, but I might have to test one out a little sooner. :) I purchased 1/2 lb of very fresh Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans online for this recipe. The recipe is for 12 ozs of vanilla essence but it can be made in any amount needed. Just figure out how many ounces you want to make and add more vanilla beans in the same ratio.

    Recipe #425681

Posted for ZWT-6 for India. Serve with hot, cooked rice. From the Usborne Children's World Cookbook given to my son, from Gramma, when he started learning to cook.

    Recipe #425550

The original inspiration for this was my recipe #423395 from the Usborne Children's World Cookbook that Gramma gave my son when he first started learning to cook. This version was created when I was soaking the oats one night when DS mentioned that he'd eaten the last apple. He didn't know I had plans for it in the morning. The next morning I used strawberries instead and whatever else was on hand & this recipe was born. :) Muesli is a healthy breakfast cereal, originally created by a Swiss doctor, made up of grains, fruit and nuts. Cook time includes overnight softening of the oats, as there is no actual cooking for this recipe.

    Recipe #424151

A refreshing, flavorful salad with just a hint of smokiness. My 3 year old and I were looking to make a quick and healthy lunch with what we had on hand. This was the tasty result. We've been experimenting with garbanzo beans (chickpeas) over the last year and she giggles whenever we eat them because her pronunciation is "chickie-peas". Since she helped create this dish and then had two helpings, I named it after her. :)

    Recipe #423656

Smorrebrod are open-faced sandwiches, made with just about any ingredients and usually eaten with a knife and fork. This is more a list of sandwich options rather than one specific recipe so ingredient amounts are an estimate. Use any of these combination suggestions or create your own with the ingredients you have on hand. Set out a smorgasbord buffet and let your family or guests make their own sandwiches! Posted for ZWT-6; from the Usborne Children's World Cookbook Gramma gave my son when he first started learning to cook.

    Recipe #423442

Traditional Swedish Potatoes and Anchovies side dish. Posted for ZWT-6; from the Usborne Children's World Cookbook Gramma gave my son when he first started learning to cook.

    Recipe #423431

Posted for ZWT-6. From the Usborne Children's World Cookbook that Gramma gave to my son when he was first learning to cook. To celebrate the short Scandinavian summer, people make special fruit puddings such as this one. Any berry or combination of berries works, but you may need to adjust the amount of sugar to compensate. Chilling time is unknown, so be sure to make this dessert ahead of time. NOTE: This recipe was printed in the World Cookbook as a pudding. Thanks to UmmIbrahim for taking the time to make and review this recipe. As a result of her findings, I've re-titled it as a soup instead of a pudding. Berry soups are a popular treat in Scandinavia and because of that I've decided it should really be presented as a cold soup. :)

    Recipe #423406

A very simple potato and cheese side dish. Posted for ZWT-6; from the Usborne Children's World Cookbook Gramma gave my son when he first started learning to cook.

    Recipe #423402

Posted for ZWT-6; from the Usborne Children's World Cookbook Gramma gave my son when he first started learning to cook. Muesli is a healthy breakfast cereal made up of grains, fruit and nuts. It was originally created by a Swiss doctor. This recipe calls for raisins or sultanas, but I love to use dried cherries or cranberries as well as dried cranberries flavored with orange or pomegranate. Fresh fruit is nice with it as well. Cook time includes overnight softening of the oats, as there is no actual cooking for this recipe.

    Recipe #423395

Posted for ZWT-6. From the Usborne Children's World Cookbook that Gramma gave to my son when he was first learning to cook. This rich, chocolate cake, also known as Sacher's Cake was created by Franz Sacher when he baked it for an Austrian prince. Traditionally this is served with fresh whipped cream. Prep & cook time are estimates & prep includes making the filling & icing.

    Recipe #423384

These German spice cookies, traditionally baked at Christmas time are usually cut into heart shapes, decorated with different colors of icing and then hung on the tree. This recipe makes 15 small cookies but is easily doubled. From the Usborne Children's World Cookbook that gramma gave my son when he was first learning to cook.

    Recipe #423360

Posted for ZWT-6, this recipe comes from the Usborne Children's World Cookbook that gramma gave my son when he was first learning to cook. Any strong-flavored cheese will work in this recipe, such as cheddar, but if you are looking for an authentic Dutch flavor, choose either Edam or Gouda. The servings, cook & prep time are estimates.

    Recipe #423338

From the Sharp Carousel Microwave & Microwave/Convection Cookbook. This recipe uses only a microwave and was developed in ovens of 700 to 1050 watts.
