This is a restaurant quality soup - will not fail to please. Fantastic colour and taste.......... I haven't seen it in any cookbook (although I am sure it does exist somewhere). I was given it by a lady that runs a restaurant here on the Isle of Man called 'Indigo Red'.
An authentic version of this dish that I found on the internet (chinese-food.recipes.com) and tweeked a bit!
I like this dish as it doesn't contain garlic and isn't spicy so is perfect for a family meal when we want to dine with the children.
Looks like a long recipe but, with a little preparation, this comes together so quick and is really comforting. Also a little beef goes a long way....... We hardly eat red meat anymore but this recipe would be the exception - lovely over boiled rice.
An economical, uncomplicated and extremely tasty dish that your children will love. Great for using left overs and freezes beautifully.
Original recipe was in a library book I had called 'The Dinner Lady'. Unsure of author.
This version, slightly adapted from the 'Detox Recipe' book is a healthy, delicious option to consider for breakfast. Even my kids would forego a Macdonalds to have this sprinkled on some Greek yoghurt with a drizzle of honey.... To get the 'full' detox effect however eat with skimmed/rice milk or natural yoghurt and fresh fruit.
