This is a recipe I made as I opened the wrong can from my pantry. I thought I was opening chick peas for hummus, but I opened Lentils, as it turns out I didn't actually have any chick peas anyway... I have to say it is one of the best mistakes I've made in the kitchen:)
I recently started eating gluten free, I had originally thought I was lactose intolerant, but gluten free made me feel SO much better. I have hunted all over for recipes for my sweet tooth, here is one that is not only sweet but could be made into CHOCOLATE Macaroons with a little ingenuity! This recipe was so quick, it took longer to take out and put away the ingredients than to mix it up.
These pannakoeken are made by Dutch Grandmas (Omas) everywhere! They are very thin and look more like crepes, however not sweet like crepes. You can eat them with savory fillings or sweet fillings, we like them with syrup best!
I found this recipe in the Kitchen section of Blueprint Magazine. I have used it over and over (original spices) and love it! Make sure you grill the unseasoned side of the meat first as the sugar can char quite easily!
This cake was made by my mother-in-law, who got this recipe during WWII. In Europe during rations, they had to make do with very simple ingredients. This recipe has simple ingredients, but great flavor!!
This Recipe was posted in the Calgary Sun Newspaper Dec 16th 1999. I have made it almost every Christmas since as gifts to my favorite people! It is loads of work but worth it as they are the best Biscotti I have made
