Named after Dagwood Bumstead, a character in the "Blondie" comic strip, this very tall sandwich is piled high with meats, cheeses, condiments, and vegetables for a dramatic presentation. To keep layers from falling over, skewer them on a spindle or with a bamboo skewer. This when broken down actually makes 5 separate sandwiches but the presentation is something else, especially for a football game party! From a pamphlet at my local deli.
Been making 1/4 pound burgers like this forever, and dont think its ever been posted here. One of our all-time favorites on the summer grill! We also love these with a slice of cooked bacon for a bacon cheeseburger.
This is great with an Italian dinner, esp spaghetti but try adding in some leftover cooked pasta and cooked meat (chicken is great) and you have a perfect for summer main dish salad! Cooking time is time to chill to allow flavors to meld.
These came about when DBF and I were camping and we were cleaning out the coolers! We had leftover BBQ's chicken and a few pieces of bacon from breakfast. Try them on the grill as they are not nearly as good done in a pan on the stove. Any cooked chicken will work, try it with a spicy fajita style or BBQ like we did!
Another one of those things that you put together when you crave something and are cleaning out the fridge! This comes together fast, esp if you have leftover mashed potatoes or use instant. If by any chance any of this is left over, thin it down with some chicken stock and milk and heat it up as a quicky broccoli/potato/cheese soup!
Was looking for something quick and easy to do with the chicken breasts I had thawed. It was raining outside and I didnt want to heat up th oven....This is from an email from the Kraft website....Yummy!
When I was a little girl my gramma used to make us donut sundaes with lefover donuts and ice cream, this is my version for when you have leftover donuts! I am posting this with all the variations we like, but for example 1 quart of ice cream will fill 6 donuts nicely. For one person this is a great snack but they do keep frozen, if you can keep the kids away from them! The possibilities are endless...enough to put any kid in a sugar high!!!
I think that this was a Mr. Food recipe but now with variations...This is fun, esp after a Mexican meal! Its another one of those that you are only limited to the combinations by what you can think of to do with it!! Enjoy! (Allow time to freeze to desired firmness)
This recipe comes from a little old German woman who I met at the pool. DD#3 is the lifeguard and introduced me Gisella who is from Germany and her husband from Holland. This is his favorite dessert. I asked her why she doesnt make it the traditional German way and her answer was because this is so much easier and then I have more time to come to the pool!....Duh LAURIE (roll eyes)....(its a 50+ free swim) I have not made it with the apples only with prediced peaches.
