    I adapted this recipe from one I found. I use it when grilling corn on the cob, on baked potatoes and it makes great toast.

    My Grandmother made red velvet Cake for every family reunion and everyone loved it. I didn't get her recipe before she passed away, but I found this one. I think it's a pretty good substitute. Using less than 1 oz of red food coloring produces a pink velvet cake I use a cream cheese frosting for this cake.

    This is an excellent cream cheese frosting. It makes quite a bit, so be generous when frosting your cake! You may need to add a very small bit of milk to get a good spreading consistency. I use this frosting on my Red Velvet Cake.

    My son found this recipe on-line and had to try it. It is very good. I toast the marshmallows in the 400 degree oven by putting them on parchment paper in a cookie sheet. It takes about 3-5 minutes for them to get nicely toasted on top.

    I changed the standard Karo syrup pecan pie recipe a bit. Although my DH loves pecan pie, I didn't like the sweetness and texture of the filling. Heating the filling gives it a creamy texture. In par baking the crust, line it with foil & fill with pie weights or dried beans to keep it from puffing up. Remove foil & weights when crust is removed from the oven.

    Usually this recipe takes me a little more than an hour to make, but it still is a quick way to make cinnamon rolls for a great morning breakfast surprise. I've been making these rolls for my family for 18 years. It can be made as cinnamon rolls or caramel sticky buns by changing the filling and the icing. If you have a mixer capable of kneading, you can cut the kneading time to about 4 minutes, just until dough comes together well and begins to pull from the sides.

    This is a beautiful, fun cake to make during Christmas time. One note: I've used liquid food coloring and found the colors very pale. Using a paste food coloring like Wilton's allows a more vivid color to be achieved without adding too much liquid. You need a small bit of the paste coloring. I use a toothpick dipped in the paste to "measure". Also, I specify "peppermint" candy cane because now red & white candy canes can be other flavors. I don't really think cherry flavor would be the same! One other note, it is best to serve this within a few hours after putting the candy cane on it because depending on the humidity, the candy will melt and it is just not as pretty.

    My family calls these kinds of dishes my "concoctions". We had a couple of thick-cut pork chops left over, so I decided to adapt a tex-mex chicken casserole I've made that the family loves. I added a little too much "juice" to the casserole and the tortilla chips were very soggy. Next time I'll try for a crispy taste. I have frozen red, green, yellow and orange bell peppers, already chopped, so I included a variety of them in this dish for color.
