This recipe contains the grated rind of one orange. Almost 6 dozen cookies. The frosting has orange juice instead of milk. Place cooled cookies in glass jars with lids and freeze. Perfect for gift giving. I save pickle jars for filling.

    Recipe #507307

Quick & easy. I serve with Tomato Mushroom Gravy which is posted with Baked Eggplant a La Ce Ce under my recipes. This is meatless. I serve with a salad. If you want, you may crush 3 precooked slices bacon to the mixture before forming patties. I also use Provalone cheese in place of cheddar once in awhile.

Ready, Set, Cook! Special Edition Contest Entry: Prep of vegetables can be done, placed in bowls and refrigerated. It is a healthy refreshing meal. I started eating quesadillas a few years ago. I am hooked on the variety of ingredients that can be encased between tortillas and so so satisfying. Enjoy. I love the refreshing cruch of the jicama and red pepper.

Ready, Set, Cook! Special Edition Contest Entry. Hashbrowns wrapped with a topping of bacon, shrimp, onion, spinach, eggs and cheese. Prep can be also done the night before if you want dinner in 15 minutes. Slice into wedges like pizza. I purchase frozen small shrimp 90-120 in a pkg that needs no prep. They are cooked, peeled, devined, tails off.

Do you like Indian Fry Bread? I have taken this idea for this bread to turn it into claim fritters and accompanying dip. This is a great recipe to load a crockpot on warm setting with the fritters and have the cold dip next to it for an appetizer party. This dip can be used with any baked or fried fish. Chilling or Cooling time not included.

    Recipe #443154

This is a gift for all occasions, especially when there is a loss in someone's family. The gift can be eaten right away, cold or heated. It can frozen and warmed for another day. It is a little spicy but very comforting. It is a perfect gift for a neighbor at Christmas. There will be tons of cooking, cakes and pies but no one thinks of giving a meat loaf which could be used for another day. Especially during the preparation of the holiday season, when everyone is happy but tired and weary.

    Recipe #443150

Created for Dining on a Dollar Contest 2010 I used brown rice as per the ingredient list but you can substitute Calrose white rice, You can also add a 4oz. can of diced jalapeno peppers or diced green peppers, mild, medium or hot. I would not personally put the whole can of jalapeno peppers in it but some people do like it very spicy and hot. Warm the tortillas.

    Recipe #440750

I have been using sauces, marinates, slurries for years to add special flavors to mundane inexpensive foods. When you must feed 10 to 14 people at one seating, you become very inventive. If I was feeding 10-14,I would make two puffs.

    Recipe #440719

I do not see eggs cooked in any dressing except hard boiled and sliced. This dressing is very adaptable. It is cooled before drizzling on cabbage, warm for lettuce and warm for drizzling on sliced pork This is simple and cheap. Thus the name and in this economy we need inexpensive recipes. I triple this for large portion of potato salad also after you have salted and peppered the potatos and hard boiled eggs and onions and added celery seed.

    Recipe #361654

Old fashioned buttery thin crust on the outside of this tube pan cake. There is no salt or milk. Powdered sugar is the key to this cake and you can use butter, margarine or butter flavored Crisco. I use a combination of butter and butter flavored Crisco. No icing necessary. Serve with fruit, whipped cream or whipped jello or any combination. Recipe found in the walls of our homestead built in 1907 tacked along side of Lithuanian newspapers which were used for insulation. I have updated recipe ie. butter flavored Crisco and Pam. They pounded the sugar to become powder with mortar and pestle.

    Recipe #354874

I was so surprised to see that all of the sauerkraut cakes require at least 3 eggs. This cake does not require any eggs. I have been making this for many years and no one seems to get tired of it. I also serve with mocha whipped cream on special occasions. It is a heavy thick batter that needs to be spread in the pans. It has a wonderful taste and consistency. It was on a recipe card from the 60's and I have adapted over the years.Photo shown of cake with mocha cream cheese frosting. The cake is fat free without frosting. Do not overcook or the sides will be chewy.

    Recipe #351069

This is a different Rice-a-Roni Salad. No olives or artichokes. You can use chopped chicken or turkey but seafood or crab is delicious. If you refrigerate overnight, the flavors really blend. So easy! Any time of the year to serve, just leave out the chopped radishes in the winter! I prefer using the crab.

    Recipe #323558

I had some flank steak and want to stuff with food but not a dressing as I usually do, since we had coleslaw and potatoes. So I tried this and everyone like it. I discovered tinfoil mini loaf pans fit one rolled flank steak in each. Holds the shape perfectly. I used A-1 Sauce to cover the top of the roll but you can use any Steak seasoning of your choice.

    Recipe #310582

This is a recipe that can use any cooked beans. I do not use tomatoes but tomato sauce and I use fresh corn off the cob mixed with butter and evaporated milk. You can use canned whole kernel corn, drained and do the same with it. I have refined this over the years. This version is what I use. You can add 1/2 pound of cooked ground meat if desired. I serve meatless with fresh tomatoes and fresh orange slices. I like this because it tastes like a filled tamale without the work of filling, binding and steaming all of the filled husks. Note: I increased milk to 1/3 to 1/2 cup based on reviewer comments. You could double the batter base and topping and cook about 10 minutes longer.

    Recipe #307516

Napa cabbage, a little white wine vinegar and some vegies and you have it! Great with grilled chicken and fried potatoes.

Because food prices are going through the roof I decided to post. Use day old or older bread. Use the crusts also. This is a German recipe from my relatives. You don't have to use cream, evaporated milk, half and half will do. I use "I Can't Believe it is Butter" spread instead of butter or margarine. It is my posted recipe and it works well. The idea is taste, not cost. Cook the last five minutes in chicken noodle soup or vegetable soup. Note: You can use Egg Beaters instead of the eggs. Add a dash of cornstarch to the Eggbeaters.

    Recipe #302671

Raspberry Preserves mixed with hickory barbecue sauce and mild, medium or hot diced green chiles with diced cooked chicken. You can substitute chipotle sauce for the barbecue sauce but it will be hot, hot, hot. Makes a huge pizza. Use my Beer Pizza Crust recipe #245161 or your favorite. Instructions for appetizers as well. I went to a fund raiser and tried a cracker with chipotle sauce and raspberry preserves and almonds and the cracker was soft. I tried to duplicate the sauce and came up with this recipe with hard crackers and scoops and my son's favorite, the PIZZA..
